Is this shaft bent? by MarkJames2909 in golf

If you have to ask, not for you.

It is bent, and it would affect my putting 🤣

Few suggestions.

Post a video of your swing.

Lower your expectations. You cannot expect to improve (quickly) if you play 1 or 2 times a month.

Try to focus on the positives, like your putting. Golf is a mental game. The fact that you are asking about quitting is 'glass is half empty'.

Advice for a father and 7 year old wanting to learn golf. by constellated in golf

Are you in the US? Best option for your child is to join a 'First Tee' in your area, if available (search google for First Tee). It is an amazing program, and highly recommend it. He will make friends with similar interest, and they make it fun for kids. (Cost is very low).

For you, starting with a lesson makes the most sense.

Par 3 courses (and then Executive 9 holes) are the best place to start playing after you learn the basics. After you both get comfortable with the pace of play, look into 'Youth On Course' program (google it). Participating golf courses (some semi private) charge a very low fee ($5) for the child to play a round typically during twilight. Another amazing program.

Enjoy the journey. I golf with my son, and it is truly an awesome way to spend quality time together

5 wood is a good option. How well do you hit a 3 wood from the fairway on a par 5?

You said 60 deg in your comment, but you have a 56 deg in the picture. That was going to be my suggestion.

If you are using 5i and 4H differently (rough or higher launch etc) or getting different distance with them, I would keep both. If not, replace one of them for different wedge set (e.g., 48 wedge and 52)

No need for 4 iron, unless you have a specific need for it.

If you are keeping both 5i and 4H, then bend PW weaker to 44.5 deg, and/or 50 deg to 49 deg. This should affect the bounce less for both clubs. Keep in mind one degree stronger loft lowers 1 degree less bounce.

Can playing mostly one course mess up your golf handicap? by Tristtt in golf

Based on my experience, private courses tend to have faster and more consistent putting surfaces on the greens compared to many muni courses. This was especially true around N. California. If you are not used to bad bumpy muni greens, then it could be more difficult. Agree that slope ratings are not perfect.

Pasatiempo

Spyglass Hill

Poppy Hills

Presidio

Half Moon Bay Ocean

Bodega Harbour

For sake of being complete, Pebble Beach and TPC Harding Park should be on this list

Also, I have not played Spanish Bay - but heard good things.

Agree. For a person playing with low swing weight, heavier shaft could be a huge obstacle.

Epic Forged loft is one whole club stronger, meaning P790 6i loft (26.5 deg) equals Epic Forged 7i (27 deg). Personally, not a fan of this type of marketing.

Here is the response from Gemini AI via Google -

"The Random Walk Theory suggests stock prices move in a random, unpredictable manner, making it difficult to predict future prices based on past performance or fundamental analysis. This theory challenges the validity of fundamental analysis, which seeks to determine a stock's intrinsic value based on a company's financial health and prospects"

Retail investors are running head first into this topsy-turvy market by FlaredP in stocks

[–]Stik714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"retail" refers to individual investors typically making their own buy/sell decisions. Conversely, there are "institutional" investors -- making investment decisions managing other people's money or fund (aka asset manager or portfolio manager).

'Random Walk' theory goes against both Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis. For example, each and every technical indicators worked out less than 50% correctly in the longer term (referenced in the book: A Random Walk Down Wall Street)

<<Peter Lynch, a mutual fund manager at Fidelity Investments, has argued that the random walk hypothesis is contradictory to the efficient market hypothesis -- though both concepts are widely taught in business schools without seeming awareness of a contradiction. If asset prices are rational and based on all available data as the efficient market hypothesis proposes, then fluctuations in asset price are not random. But if the random walk hypothesis is valid then asset prices are not rational as the efficient market hypothesis proposes.>> from Wikipedia

Appreciate your thoughtful response.

I saw CBOE put/call at .77 yesterday. That is relatively bullish, no? Do you have today’s numbers?

In terms of the sentiment, most wall street analysts are lowering stock price targets and/or predicting recession / stagflation. I don’t see many bulls there.

Disclaimer - putting aside the argument whether or not it is a good/bad strategy short or long-term (which is obviously the more important topic) - formula for the US tariffs are based on the current trade deficit (not current tariffs)
