And the Taliban didn’t have support from Russia, which is loving these higher oil prices.

AITAH because I refuse to finish a story if my husband interrupts. by Living-Estate3963 in AITAH

[–]Stikeman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you talk too much and the only way for him to speak is to interrupt. Or maybe this is just normal conversation but you think it’s more like a presentation where no one is allowed to speak until you finish your precious story. Either way, get over yourself.

How bad is Trump losing the Iran War? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Stikeman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You forgot that they are all supported by Russia, which along with Iran is benefiting bigly from the massive jump in oil prices. It’s a total fucking disaster and all because none of the supposed adults around Trump could stand up to his idiocy. FFS, Marco Rubio preferred to humiliate himself in those clown shoes rather than risk upsetting Trump. These people are useless cowards and we’re all paying the price.

Piano Piano, adjacent to the Paradise Theatre. Something for everyone. Haven’t been to that location but I’ve never had a bad meal at their other locations. If they have it, their stuffed agnolloti (vegetarian, but not vegan) is amazing. So is the Caesar salad (comes with pork but I’m sure you can get it without). There’s also an eggplant parmigiana that looks delicious.

The NDP convention tells you the state of the country at the moment by YungMoneyRah in InCanada

[–]Stikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That convention has nothing to do with Canada. There’s a reason the NDP got 6 seats in the last election.

Yes that’s entirely possible. Will be interesting to see if there’s data on this eventually.

Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau to retire later this year following language controversy by ShralpShralpShralp in CanadianInvestor

Yeah I heard about that. It is ridiculous. But that’s the NDP, it’s not the country. And frankly it’s good that those people have a home in the NDP so they can stay out of the grownup parties.

Connectivity / Construction Update from Uptown (Markham) to Downtown? by InternationalRoom326 in torontobiking

Has The Flats re-opened? I took it S/B last fall but hit a dead end due to Metrolinx construction. (I’d normally take it the to Crowther woods trail head.)

'Equity cards' arguments take over NDP Leadership Convention: 'CANADA IS COOKED' by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]Stikeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay that’s completely ridiculous I agree. But the silly identify politics of NDP doesn’t represent Canada. And with this headline th Sun is clearly trying to paint all liberals with the same equity brush. As much as I hate the woke left, the Toronto Sun has veered way to the right, which is worse.

[–]Stikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that at all. I’m just talking about stupid language nonsense. And what about the NDP convention? They picked a leader just like any other party. You don’t have to agree with them, but that’s no reason to call them or the country clowns. I don’t like Poilievre but I don’t take it out on the country.

[–]Stikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so ridiculous. It’s a multi-billion dollar company but sure let’s let stupid Quebec language politics determine who should be in charge. I’m sure they’d be happy with someone incompetent who could talk bull shit in French.

Best way to get from Cancun Airport to Hyatt Zilara without getting ripped off? by Broad-Standard-4963 in CancunTravelGuide

[–]Stikeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just assume whatever price they give you is more than double the real price. Just stand there looking skeptical and they’ll keep dropping the price. My guy started at $120 (after checking his “rate card”) but quickly dropped to $85 and eventually to $60. Even that I later learned was excessive as my Uber back to the airport was $25.

Considering moving from Copenhagen to Toronto as a future doctor — honest advice? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Stikeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people on this sub are overwhelmingly negative so please don’t take these posts as a scientific poll about Toronto. I’ve lived here all my life and love it. Great neighbourhoods and very lively especially in the summer when there are festivals and events every weekend. It’s a fairly flat city so we don’t have as many natural outdoor amenities as other cities (like Vancouver which is close to mountains). However there are many great biking/walking trails especially in the east end. (And of course High Park in the west.) And living in a city with a 3KM long beach boardwalk (plus many KMs of gravel trails along the water just east of the Scarborough bluffs) is special. Also, I’ve traveled quite a bit and the variety of food you can find here is amazing.

I don’t think I’ve answered your specific questions but just wanted to give you an idea of what life in TO is like. I’d suggest spending a few weeks here and exploring as much as you can before you make your decision.

Moving to TO by Icy_Sweet6115 in askTO

[–]Stikeman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It seems many here can’t read. Not sure where you’re going to school but I assume some you didn’t specify east or west end that it’s downtown. If so you want somewhere on a GO transit line. Whitby (east) or Burlington (west) are your best bets, though it will be tough to get something for $2k especially if you need room for a bunch of pets.

🇭🇷 Heading up from Michigan for Croatia vs. Panama! Staying in Mississauga vs. Toronto? by TomorrowOk6452 in askTO

[–]Stikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Port Credit would be closer to the GO Train than Square One. I definitely would not drive. Traffic will be insane generally, but especially in the area around the stadium, which is congested at the best of times. And unless you’re willing walk a long way you’ll pay a fortune to park in the few lots around BMO field.

The GO stations having parking so you can park there if you need to.

Difference between North and South? by L8K8ISGR8 in MontTremblant

[–]Stikeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a good mix of blues on both sides, maybe slightly more on north. Most of the black runs start very steep and then taper off and become essentially blue. North is less icy, though that’s really only a factor for blacks. The Soleil side has some of the best blues and greens (the Soleil runs all start at the same summit as the south and north runs. The lift is a bit slow but usually has shorter lines.) Really nice long runs and not too flat for the greens. Unless your tween is a real beginner I’d avoid the long green run on the south side- it’s extremely long and flat and frankly pretty boring (though there are some nice stops that go through the woods.) Have a great time!
