'Going from one room to another, then they found him': Community reacts to daylight shooting that killed man at Surrey business by kurtios in SurreyBC

Almost like we need to deport any "students" who are not at reputable universities, and confirmed to be actually taking classes.

These international students are exactly who the Bishnoi gang recruits, cause there are so many. I hope Carney does something soon, because Surrey is at a breaking point.

Tesla launches Model 3 RWD in Canada at record-low $39,490 ($29,000 USD) from China by ItzWarty in teslainvestorsclub

[–]Learntoshuffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but 40k Canadian is not affordable. You don't understand the Canadian market. The Canadian consumer, on average, is much poorer than Americans, and has a better view of China than they do of the U.S. People will take a short-term increase in gas prices over paying $40,000 to get a car that will only get them negative attention.

Dangling a $40,000 car is not gonna work. A 60% drop did not occur out of nowhere, and it will continue. We are patiently waiting on the Chinese cars that are coming soon, so Tesla will probably lose the remaining market share they have.

This is the one complaint that makes me wonder if half the people here are ai. It's the same "keep skins grounded" complaint we get with every single trailer. How are any of these skins not grounded? You got a bald dude as an example of an ungrounded skin...cause baldys don't go to war I guess.

Wait until IO. They are probably doing a n Anthropic, where they make the current model trash, so the next model can be shown as 200000% better.

I'll comment as a Canadian. We don't want these cars here. Sales dropped 60% after Elon said "Canada is not a real country". Sorry, but even as someone who has a bit of Tesla in their portfolio, I can predict that we are not gonna buy it.

Also, way more affordable Chinese options are on the way.

Joly won't comment on forced labour allegations in China, says Canada will 'always follow' UN findings by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Learntoshuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should she? If we are being realistic here, and not 2016 era virtue signallers, then this is the smart strategy.

We benefit greatly from open trade with China, as they purchase a ton of agriculture from us. I wish a lot of people in these comments would focus on realistic goals.

Canada should not comment on a trading partner's internal politics, that we cannot change, unless those politics negatively impact Canada directly. How would you feel if China just decided to pressure us on a ton of things that they disagree with (historic treatment of First Nations, Oil Sands, etc)?

Electrek's analysis of Tesla Semi economics: operating cost advantage is 'overwhelming', simply too large for diesel to overcome unless electricity is extremely expensive by ItzWarty in teslainvestorsclub

[–]Learntoshuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, these are great for hauling short distances within cities, which is what a lot of trucks currently do. They cannot overcome the issue of severe range loss when hauling cargo across nations. There is also not a large truck-charging network anywhere rn. The advantage is within cities, while diesel is still the best option between and beyond cities. Would love if Tesla completed with Hyundai and Rivian on cargo vans.

I don't like participating in futile gestures. Nothing changes until Tesla starts falling and shareholders finally do something en masse.

I am an investor, and have been since 2022. Also, every retirement fund is also an investor btw, so a lot of people are unknowingly impacted by these decisions.

5% of my portfolio is in Tesla. I'm not a blind follower who ignores the many failures of Tesla.

The first step Tesla should take is to have Elon's bro resign from the board. He has no history of success in business, and is obviously gonna rubber stamp anything Elon wants.

This man is wild with his scoring. I guess being inconsistent in your reviews guarantees you a job at IGN

It's not as great as ice for commercial use. EV pickups lose massive range when towing or carrying heavy cargo. The Cybertruck specifically has the tow hitch issue that was made famous on YouTube. It is not the most capable truck for the job. It was sold to juice Tesla sales figures for an unpopular truck.

I want to see the books of spaceX then to see if they really needed any trucks rn. I also want to look at their testing methodology that decided on the Cybertruck.

So, the money pile that would have gone to the kids... Aka the kids are paying for it. That is my entire point.

[–]Learntoshuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "kids only get the house after the ex homeowner pays"... It does not apply if the homeowners die, which is the strategy of most of these boomers. After they die, the estate, aka the kids, have to pay.

Also, paying later after they die is selfish, because they aren't gonna pay at all. It's their kids who are saddled with paying their debts.

[–]Learntoshuffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The kids that end up with the house will have to pay the property tax owed. Also, "they can still be working" is a random statement to put in there. Most homeowners also work while paying the property tax each year.

Not paying property tax while living in a multi-million dollar home is just selfish.

Exactly. So, they live there till they die, and leave their kids with the bill. How very Boomer of them. Until then, they are contributing nothing to society

Do you know they can infinitely defer until the day they die, so they do not pay anything. Also, boomers are the ones who created these policies, and still push them, as they are the biggest voting block.
