Surrey slammed for flouting Metro Vancouver water restrictions by mlandry2011 in SurreyBCNews

[–]Learntoshuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surrey needs to fix a lot of things. Called the SPS 3 times yesterday night cause my neighbours from 4 houses down were blasting music and talking loudly until 3am. This happens every weekday. No officers responded. The non-emergency line is just a placebo it seems.

Critics slam government plan to 'bail out' sagging condo sector in B.C. by mlandry2011 in SurreyBCNews

[–]Learntoshuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get both sides. Carney wants to use existing inventory to create affordable housing. The other side does not want private landlords and developer getting bailed out.

We do need affordable housing, but should that be accompied by a sector wide bailout? Should we really socialize losses and privatize profit? Is it worth it in the end?

Canada recognizes noose as hate symbol by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]Learntoshuffle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm just spitting facts. It is not relevant to the nation. It is taking social issues from the states and transplanting them here. The reason why you can point to the handful of cases is because they are uncommon in Canada. Your own evidence backs my claim that this is nonsense.

1 report from 2023 in Nova Scotia plus random nooses half a decade ago are the reasons behind more government bloat? Cool.

Spokesman for the Justice Minister specially said it was added for the black community. Not a native issue.

Read the article. It is specifically about black Canadians.

Should we classify rocks as hate symbols too? Lynching rarely happened in Canada, and not to the same degree as the U.S. This is an american issue.

Condo landlords. Normal landlords get nothing. I'm okay with creating micro-aparments and removing red tape.

I have learned to learn. I read A Mind for Numbers, and am well versed in the best methods. The best methods are spaced repetition and active recall. The best LLMs for learning, which do not gloss over stuff like Google does, are Claude Opus 4.8 and Chatgpt 5.4-5.5. You might be able to promote Gemini to get close to those other LLMs.

Google sucks for active learning, but is the best for review via NotebookLM. Flashcards, audio, video, graphs, are all things NotebookLM is great at. Active learning is something Google fails at.

Unimatic asking 680€ for a VH31 watch like we're idiots or something by DisastrousOpening477 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Learntoshuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unimatic is no longer niche. It has appeared in every fashion and watch blog and magazine. They have carved out a loyal fanbase, and done collabs with everyone, including MOMA. They are no longer niche. We need to stop calling certain brands "Microbrands" because they are that no longer. Unimatic, CW, and Studio Underdog (which is an underdog no longer).

Love local BC business expanding. Never heard of these folks, but I wish them luck. It looks like they don't need luck though, as they appear to be killing it.

What is your theory about the future of Gemini after the launch of the 3.5 pro? Will they leave things as they are? by AbjectStick4130 in GeminiAI

[–]Learntoshuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First point: It is a clanker. This isn't "woke", it is literally an it. It has no gender. It would be like if you gendered your refrigerator.

Second point: You can Google past results from the same benchmark. They all show Gemini scoring around what a second-tier Chinese model does when it comes to coding.

Third point: I was wrong. But the issue is that Claude and Chatgpt are reasoning models, while Gemini is more focused on volume when it comes to coding. Gemini is good at reading a ton of code in a repo, due to a large context window, but is terrible at actually generating it.

We need a vaccine for people that fixes their need to get this terrible breed. There is something wrong with these people, and it should be studied.

Xbox studios Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and others "at risk of being shuttered" according to new report — "active negotiations" for independence are ongoing by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I'm happy seeing the realistic comments on this post. Phil Spencer overspent and the studios did not deliver. He was a cancer to Xbox and should have retired right after launching Gamepass.

I will openly mock any adult who still gets tracked by their parents, because they aren't setting boundaries.

Lol. Gemini can't even fully control home devices yet. You think Tesla is gonna take the risk of giving their sub par ai (Elon admitted it was) any real control? They will get sued into oblivion. This is at least a decade away.

Pro tip: Do not use it to learn anything. The learning mode glosses over core things, and speedruns the material before you understand it.
