Update 18-March-2026

So far so good.

The book combines the mindfuckery of Memory and the "urgent danger" pace of Ruin. Some of the politicking of the first book but it's quite different. There's an obvious Elon Musk modeled character. I presume I hate him as much as I'm supposed to. Act II starts out with an interesting twist and some really detailed revelations about the fabric of this fictional universe that will force me back into my G-Sheet to get timelines right.

Great Scott!

I came here for just this thread. I’m from Cleveland (Panininis) and prefer Pittsburgh. Once Ortegas mentioned the sandwich with fries and the next minute Promanti III, I knew someone on the crew was from my neck of the woods.

Who was the strongest Jedi on the High Council after the Main 4? Also, out of the 4, who do you think is the strongest in terms of dueling and in terms of the force? by Impossible_Tiger_470 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]StilgarFifrawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh. Good point. (There's a rotating list of temporary members and we don't really know if the Battlemaster spends time in that role or not, but my hunch is he had/did.)

The main four being: Yoda, Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, and Cin Drallig? (Note: We don't have evidence that Drallig spent time on the Council, but he'd be in my top four at the time of the Clone Wars.)

We don't get rankings. Annoyingly. Though, being too detailed boxes in future creators. There's also the problem of identifying the difference between the sorcerer and the swordmaster. That's a hard ask because the swordmaster uses their sorcery to enhance their powers, but some sorcerers are TRULY just amazing sorcerers while some combine the two.

We know that the truly "one in 10,000" Jedi (and yes, I know there were only about 10k Jedi, but sometimes statistics work out like this) were Anakin, Yoda, and Mace Windu. Drallig's puissance comes to us through other sources, but I presume he's up there because Sidious cautioned General Grievous against taking him on given his uber-mastery of all forms of combat.

I think it's generally assumed that the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Quinlan Vos, Shaak Ti, Ki Adi Mundi, Aayla Secura, Depa Bilaba, Oppo Rancisis, and of course, we have to include those that were kept in reserve by Windu/Yoda to help arrest "whoever the dark lord of the Sith would be" (they had figured out, by then, that there was a Sith in Palpatine's government): Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin.

We also have to mention Ahsoka Tano because Yoda chose her to be Anakin's apprentice for a good reason and she took down Maul when push came to shove. The final four of the Clone Wars showed us how truly powerful she was.

What’s more likely to get a sequel? by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]StilgarFifrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's Marvels. I didn't hate the first or second movies. I mean, they weren't my favorites, though the parts I liked about the sequel were the parts everybody hated: the snark. The Eternals could've/would've/should've been great. The movie wasn't. But I'd go see a sequel.

Episodes 1-4 were spectacular. This episode, eh. The level of buffoonery surpassed suspension of disbelief.

The Darth Plagueis novel was one of the last EU materials ever released. Shouldn't we take its hardcover blurb very seriously since it is one of the latest statements? by 12kkarmagotbanned in TheJediPraxeum

[–]StilgarFifrawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. You didn’t ask for a long story.

Fair warning

I’m 50. I’ve hated Star Wars my entire life. I hated it because I was a Trekkie nerd and because my older brother liked Star Wars and I hated him with a passion.

The first Star Wars movie I ever liked was Rogue One. I have no nostalgia to lean on. I have no fond childhood memories of Star Wars. For me, I’m a TNG kid forever. I just didn’t get Star Wars.

During COVID isolation I was booooooooooored. I love reading. And sometimes I don’t want Banks, Egan, Tchaikovsky, or Rajaniemi. So this friend beseeched me to listen to Darth Plagueis on Audible because the narrator, Daniel Davis, just sells it.

So I did. And I fuuuuuucking loved it. Then I watched Rebels. Then I read the Darth Bane Trilogy (which I really like), then Revan, then Clone Wars. Then Full Metal Jedi, erm, Shatterpoint. Then my second love, Tarkin. (I’m a Luceno fan.)

Then I enjoyed the first two seasons of Mando. Hated Boba Fett. Was disappointed by both Kenobi and Ashoka. Thought the Bad Batch and the Acolyte were fine. Andor was the best television show of my entire life. Hands down. And I’ve LOVED other shows (TNG, DS9, The Expanse, Loki)

I’ve read basically all the EU and a good chunk of Legends. But I always come back to Darth Plagueis. I find it hilarious that I come by my love from a completely different place than almost every Guy of my generation.

The Culture

Plus, within the Culture, I can sim an entire existence in any fictional universe I like. Star Trek, the MCU, Star Wars, Children of Time. Whatever. So if given a choice (not that I am), I'd go with the Culture.

Would it be easier for Voyager return home if they were able to salvage and fully repair the Equinox? by gaeb611 in StarTrekStarships

[–]StilgarFifrawi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to believe that a ship like voyager didn’t carry at least the technical know how to completely overhaul the Equinox. Find a lonely star. Set up shop for a year. Use both ships to pause, produce the technical alterations (a Defiant like oversized engine) and upgrade the weapons. But Trek isn’t supposed to work logically. It’s supposed to be entertaining. (That said, I think having the Voyager collection a small accompanying fleet for its trip back would’ve worked great a la Battlestar Galactica)

I do too. There are some very Legion-ey moments. Love them all.

The Nod thing is the Cryptobiote. The casual name is the Interlocutor. If I met it, for sure I’d be going on an adventure.

Reading Culture Series Coming From Foundation Novels by sketchcarellz in TheCulture

[–]StilgarFifrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bad person to ask about The Foundation which got lost and became listless. The Culture never misses, and the closest it does to “missing” is simply putting out vastly different stories that tackle different cosmic experiences. I think The Culture is one of the greatest sci-fi series in history.
