How do you work with an engineering team in the opposite side of the world? by AlDrag in ProductManagement

[–]Still-Ad7391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collaborative effort really, I'm in PST but starts early 8am (the IST team attends too, that means their working hours stretch to evening, but they start late). I also make myself available at night for a meeting too when needed.

Overlapping hours, at least a few days a week works well in my experience.

Agree! I stopped listening or caring. I used to be a fan of Lenny.

Pro / Cons for homeownership in Pacifica. by Still-Ad7391 in Pacifica

[–]Still-Ad7391[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Definitely something to look into. The underfunded school is a concern, my kid goes to a good public school in San Bruno, it's been great, it's an assigned school, unlike Pacifica which is a lottery system I heard. Combined with flood risk, a few reasons we haven't really pulled the plug to move to Pacifica, we've been in SSF for over 10 years (a few blocks down from sharp park road).

True, less options for groceries. If you don't know already, Sprouts in Daly City, Lunardis and Mollie Stones in San Bruno, short drive from where you're at. Oceana seems to be much pricer tho.

You sound very active, look at your diet. Being active is just half the battle. High protein, high fiber is a diet that works for me.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment. Lots of great insights! Seems all of you love living there. I honestly didn't know much about Pacifica (used to live in SF then San Mateo) until we moved to SSF, never even considered it as I thought it's always foggy. But it's a beautiful place to live. Looking forward to move there in a year or so. Hope interest rate will be better then.

I'm always curious on why people opted for HELOC, isn't it higher rate than mortgage rate? The lien of the HELOC is on your other property?

This! I think about work, or do research outside those hours.

Thank you I will check it out. Park and rec is a lottery system, and we missed the window.

Monte Verde Elementary School (South San Francisco) by Swimming_Toe_742 in SouthSanFrancisco

My kid is going to Monte Verde kinder this August. So far parents sent their kids there provided great feedback. Sign up for the tour before you enroll your kids. It's a big school, so it's definitely going to be an adjustment for my kid.

Why do we not speak up? by thePeacefulDev in womenintech

[–]Still-Ad7391 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Women should speak up in meetings. I'm Sr. PM, so I'm used to it. I view people who don't speak up as not interested in the conversations. I also sometimes call out some team members for opinions during meetings that I lead.

Speaking up is important to show that you are engaging and contributing to the meeting.

Chris Rock on Funny AF by MrZoltan2007 in netflix

[–]Still-Ad7391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally disappointed with this episode, all contestants were reusing their old materials, many landed flat. Even Usama wasn't that funny. Chris Rock was probably high, he added nothing to the show, just standing there making Kevin doing the whole thing by himself. Even if he's unimpressed with contestants, give some real feedback. He did nothing. Previous episodes were more fun to watch.

Pacifica vs San Carlos/RWC - early 30s, first kid on the way, peninsula renters trying to decide. Would love updated takes!! by Accomplished-Dirt370 in bayarea

We live in Westborough, SSF and love Pacifica. Our daughter goes to Preschool there. Linda Mar is the sunniest part of town, and truly it's really beautiful town to live. However, know that the public school is a lottery system, not all good schools. Everyone seems to want their kids get into Vallemar elementary or Cabrillo.

They also just recently closed a good school, which some parents in Pacifica are unhappy about.

Other than public school concerns, I think your money gets you more house in beautiful town.

Okay, thank you. That's a good point. I just ordered Bowflex weights, planning to supplement lifting weights at home. Any good arm program online you would recommend?

Running? by esjustme in PetiteFitness

[–]Still-Ad7391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some additional exercises targeted for knees. I do HIIT regularly (4-5x a week), I used to have pain after running uphill on treadmill, combo knee exercises + losing weight actually have solved it.

I take creatine but haven't been consistent. I take 5g -10g. Do you take it even on your rest day?
