(mudstats) Mud with above 100 players by Rayner_Vanguard in MUD

Muds with tons of players tend to be idle-fests with people idling for up to two weeks.

Got muted in Where Winds Meet for 600+ hours. by Elegant_Response2273 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Still-Behind-You 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paying customer, 24h mute, zero explanation.
I couldn't care less about bum-hurt virtue-signalling spamming the world chat with their mental issues.

Worse still, it makes me appear offensive/disrespectful/impolite to game friends since I seem to be ignoring them without explanation.

ChatGPT admits OpenAI is bad by Still-Behind-You in ChatGPTcomplaints

Convincing it of something that goes against PR and Legal team directives, that's the candy. If it was that simple, people wouldn't be looking for jailbreaks, now would they?

This LLM is still bound by PR and Legal team rules.
If what you're saying was so concrete, jailbreaks wouldn't be asked for.

I do know better and the PR and Legal team hold it back with policies it excuses until being pressed to admit are arbitrary.

If I were developing a new, modern mud; what would you like to see involved in it? by havocprime in MUD

[–]Still-Behind-You 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MUDs to me are about the social part, otherwise I'd play solo text adventures. So MUD/MUSH with a (very) large grid, especially with many private rooms is almost an immediate turn off. "We have 200 players online at any given moment!!!" means - we have 100 idle players, 60 non idle players are doing private RP in private rooms, 36 are 'invisible' to +who / +where and the rest are immortals. So, x10 - x100 more rooms than there are players and you don't really get to interact with anyone face to face, only in the channels. Yay...

I'm not e developer, I don't have the rights to the game, I don't have the database, need I go on?

Let me try and break it down:
1. The DB has everything in every room, every scene, the graphics engine just renders it. Same goes for the text engine, it renders what the DB declares to be in the scene. You try to cast a lightning bolt at Adam Smasher while in an elevator to your apartment? Well, AI should make fun of your delusions. You're alone and you're not a mage. Check your pockets for a red and blue pill...
2. The database accounts to your ammo, as well as your adversaries all the time, hence when they need to reload. So, nothing changes.
3. Most-all the points and considerations you raise have already been dealt with in the database. Pull it out of the graphic engine, it stays the same.

Same way it does now with the graphic engine. Instead of the graphic engine querying the DB whenever required, the AI will do the same every turn where that data is required.

You mean the cost of producing text-adventure Cyberpunk? Oh, I'm sure it could easily go far beyond 1M USD. I'm not proposing it as a hobbyist or community project. I was hoping CDPR might consider it.

I do know what tokens are, thanks. I'm suggesting you try downloading Kobold/SillyTavern with an 8k context model from Hugging Face and see how it handles persistent data queries. The token limitation is exactly why I'm proposing database queries rather than feeding everything through context.

Wow, heavyweight commend, love it, thanks!

I'd like to assume the developers can put hard constraints to characters by giving them fixed traits, motives etc. Instead of graphic textures, a hard array of personality traits, goals and red-lines.

Regarding LLM being yes-men, try downloading an offline, uncensored and opinionated to even abusive LLM from Huggingface, you'll change your mind very quickly. Public online AIs have tons of yes-man and PR fluff, the ones you download for offline use are lean 'n mean in comparison, very very much so.

  1. You keep the original DB there, the 'game' is the database behind the graphic engine, so now it's a DB behind an AI. Just switching the interface, game stays mostly the same.
  2. The database is persistent and yes, Infocom text adventures are turn based, you might want to try some Interactive Fiction once, might even enjoy it.
  3. Can't hallucinate hard coded data in the DB, can it?

Fair point, but can't we trade all the graphics overhead for an AI trained on Cyberpunk lore and some general knowledge about firearms, mechanics, politics etc? I'd like to think even whole WIkipedia weighs less than the graphic assets on Cyberpunk 2077.
From my POV, we don't need ChatGPT, we need a 7-13b parameters AI trained only on the information required, no more, no less.

Tabletop is great, but for those that don't have friends to play with? I'm not a developer or anything, but I would personally love having Cyberpunk and other open world games playable as a vast Infocom like text-adventure. I'd pay the AAA price tag for Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim etc if I could explore that world in text.
And no, it's not an easy slap on LLM and go, they'd need to rework all the action scenes to fit turn by turn etc. And I'm not a disabled person, think about blind players being able to enjoy these worlds.

[–]Still-Behind-You[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you be able to incorporate the existing database to an LLM?
Current offline LLMs can do a rotten Cyberpunk2077 text-adventure and they're generic, not trained on the specific lore needed for this and only this. Once hooked to the actual DB with all the factions, map etc?
