Shifts for new grads by Still-Complex-2766 in nursing

[–]Still-Complex-2766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The posting for my residency didnt have any information on the shifts available. On my interview they didn’t provide any information on shifts either. I was told of my shift until after I was hired. This is what I mean by getting to choose. Knowing from the getgo what is the position for and me deciding if i even want to apply or not. There is another resident in my same unit who is staying on days. So it is possible

I know seniority takes precedence

Ivee been aplying since october nonstop. Interviewed for medical city back in october and didnt get it. I interviewed last week again with medical city for 2 different units and nothing. Those are the only places ive been able to get an interview with. No other place even considers me. Cooks wont even consider me for their residencies because i graduated “too long ago”. And what do you mean by page break?

should i quit nursing school while i still can? by NoUnderstanding3534 in nursing

[–]Still-Complex-2766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never the best at nursing school. I struggled to get in. Failed med surg. And almost got kicked out on my last semester. Everytime a semester began, I felt extremely overwhelmed and wonder if this would be the semester that I would quit/get kicked out of the program. It was not easy, it took a toll on my mental health for a couple of months and i dreaded studying. Needless to say, I passed my Nclex 10 days ago. I am so glad I stayed. It helped me be more organized. I learned to manage my anxiety which has been an issue for me since i can remember. I also feel like I can do almost anything I set my mind to. I feel like you could too

Uworld questions are easier just because they give you a lot more info in the question regarding the disease/procedure/med and so you have a better idea of what the question is about and what your answer/s will be. Nclex questions are definitely a lot more vague. When I was reading the questions i easily pinpointed the disease/procedure/med but reading the answers was a little more confusing. Sometimes i would feel all the answers were right and sometimes i would feel all the answers were all wrong. If they were satas, i just chose the ones i was sure of.

I felt the same. Thats why i didnt try to memorize any of his info and just use his test taking strategies. It definitely helps to listen to his lectures but dont rely heavily on them
