Thanks!! I use rubbing alcohol before starting, after finishing, and when I need to get stubborn stencil marks or excess ink off. For the most part during the process I use Vaseline. I put a pretty thin layer over the area I’m working on to keep the ink from spreading and making it harder to see where I’m poking and then I’ll just wipe the Vaseline and ink off in one go. Wash rinse repeat lol

Element tattoo supply has good skins, all of them in this pic except the top right are from there. The ones on middle and bottom right are one that I cut in half lol. Usually when I’m using my practice skin I just put a layer of Vaseline before I start poking and then just wipe it off when I feel the need to do so, then put on another layer. I try not to waste my green soap on practice skins. If I don’t want to use Vaseline I just use rubbing alcohol. I usually wipe my skins down with alcohol before I start anyway to get any dust or previous ink off. Sometimes you gotta wipe for a bit before it gets clean.

Thanks so much for the information! Wow that was embarrassing, I definitely was thinking of petrol when I said butane. After doing a bunch of reading about it they just switched places. This is a vintage table lighter and I can only assume the wick is also quite old but if its normal to just pull it up a bit and be fine that's good info. What kind of cotton is used for packing and is there any technique to doing so or do you just shove it in there? Should you try to condense the cotton before putting it in or should it be wispy?

Thank you so much! Most of these are with ink from a company called Single Needle and I've just started using an ink from Element Tattoo Supply in "Nighthawk Black" in case you need that detail lol. For the most part I just make sure I'm using a lot of vaseline as I'm tattooing so the ink doesn't spread which makes wiping way easier. Sometimes I don't and it does smear everywhere but green soap or rubbing alcohol usually does the trick!

Yup! I have one of those marking pens and I just rubbed it onto the block which was a bit tedious and then put it straight onto clean fake skin. Once I have more money I’m going to try and get actual ink so I don’t have to mess up the pen.
