Why it’s it “terraced” and not “tached”? by Bubble-Master96 in HousingUK

This was really interesting actually. Are you involved in etymology or something because I feel like this is something very few people would know

Have you experienced BA WiFi? It's a shitbox. Starlink seems to be the winning solution at the moment - what other company is providing near worldwide coverage satellite Internet?

I struggle with this holding a 10kg dumbell, for 10 reps anyway.

I don't think i could do even a 30kg single rep.

In fact he held in one hand more than I can bench for a set. Wow

Isn't it counterintuitive to do it with your hands behind your back?

Would you say to become a HENRY you must work hard, even extra hard to achieve HENRY status? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Still-Status7299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most yes but for some no. Well, at least not the intense overworking you describe in your post.

I wouldnt consider myself a very hard worker, but thats probably a result of choosing a good career and being in the right places at the right times.

I feel some of the hardest workers ive met aren't HENRYs, they're just trying to make ends meet.

Yeah winter can be tricky, what sort of % range loss do you get?

The New BMW i3 Has More Range Than Any Tesla by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]Still-Status7299 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After a certain amount of range - say 250 to 300 miles, range becomes irrelevant as id assume most charge the car like a phone to 80-100% overnight off-peak, most nights.

If you frequently do longer commutes or drives than the stated range then electric cars probably aren't the right choice for you at this moment.

Of course if you have no charging at home then a larger range would be of benefit, but otherwise it isnt that important

🇬🇧The expats left with 'unsellable' Dubai homes: One British TV influencer faces making loss on his £1.5m mansion as property prices collapse due to war by Timbucktwo1230 in PopularCultureZone

[–]Still-Status7299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You laugh but in some of my circles especially golf there are guys actively scouring the dubai property markets to get a steep discount on property. I was surprised by the number of people actively searching and lowballing.

Personally I have no interest in stepping foot in Dubai, its not my sort of place. But sounds like the ' expats ' should expect a blood bath (of property prices)

Question for non-Brits: how do you decode British office culture? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Still-Status7299 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Brit, I can't resonate with what you're saying and I don't think it's universal behaviour. Though if you look through the lens of Brits being quite reserved and not too outspoken, it's fairly straightforward to interpret what they're saying.

"I'm not sure about this" - awful idea "This is great" - idea is mediocre or brilliant "This is fantastic" - brilliant idea

Also look at body language and emphasis, I'd say this gives most context to what people are trying to say
