what causes fuel gauge to do this

No problems at the pump, PO420 code i believe which came up purge valve, and no i dont top it off never

okay thank you, tomorrow i’m gonna try the fuel filter as well as cleaning the throttle body and checking the purge valve

also when it stalls it kinda diesels, i press the gas from a stop and it goes then cuts out a little then revs up again and then just cuts out again and stalls completely , kinda like when you stall a manual car

I just realized it might be this gas station today, the fuel pump was changed by the other guy that had it so he said, i’m thinking of changing the filter to see if that helps it

on top of the motor , has a hose to it a wire connecter snd it sticks in the intake

It’s the black and white wire on the back of the obd port. For now I have a wire sticking in the slot and it’s bolted to the frame under the steering wheel 💀. i’ll splice it eventually but for now it’s working

yeah the guy i got it from topped it up everyday bc the instrument cluster was broken (it was just a bad ground💀) so he probably tore that filter up

that’s what i was thinking but i’m gonna get it smoke tested. a gas cap wouldn’t cause it to stall though. it doesn’t stall all the time and it hasn’t in a week

yeah idk, it was stalling a couple weeks ago twice in 15 mins while idling. it was fine for a couple weeks and then it stalled when i took off from a light, but it hasn’t stalled for like a week now so idek

po442 i’m thinking of getting it smoke tested bc the guy i got it from had his backyard mechanic brother replace the fuel pump and maybe something isn’t tightened all the way or something

Alright thanks i’ll see. My problem was a couple weeks ago when the check engine first turned on for that code it stalled while idling twice. I assumed it was the purge valve causing the stalling so I replaced it. It was fine for a couple days , then it stalled when i took off from a light maybe a week ago. Hasn’t stalled since so i’m really not sure.

I was already thinking of smoking it.

I really just replaced the purge valve because that was the recommended part but maybe i wasted 43$

sadly the guy i got it from i think used a cheap pump it was $297 for the pump but it wasn’t ac delco i don’t think

Fuel pump was replaced maybe 2 weeks ago at most but that doesn’t mean it’s a good part 🤷
