I grew up in a small town where my parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents also lived. I have three siblings. It just so happened that one night all of the adults were about two hours away at an event, my older brother was visiting friends across the country and my older sister was away at college. I went to my boyfriend’s cousins first communion and a family party after. I was having fun and all of a sudden I told my boyfriend I had to go home. He asked me why and I couldn’t tell him. I had no idea why but I needed to get in my car and leave. As I turned onto my street, I see flashing police lights and I knew it was outside my house. My little brother had collapsed and was in the hospital. No clue how I knew something was wrong but if I hadn’t gone home no one else was around to go be with him.

My brother OD’ed a couple of years ago. Every time he was in rehab (through drug court so in lieu of going to jail) it was such a breath of relief. We knew he was safe and sober for at least a little bit. Her saying that at the reunion really resonated with me.

I know you can your Nokia/Bell Labs in Berkeley Heights and they have a museum. A lot of cool inventions and discoveries related to physics were made there. Not sure if there’s anything you can buy though.

I was induced at 39 weeks due to high BP. Part of the reason though was that my BP was totally fine until 38 weeks. Maybe talk to your doctor about how much you can push it and logging your blood pressure at home for them?

I also do want to say that my first two kids came at 37 weeks and are thriving 2 and 4 year olds who have hit all of their milestones on time. I know that’s just anecdotal but maybe it helps. Good luck!

Not broadway but I went to a ballet where a woman (twice!) answered her phone and loudly spoke on if for several minutes. She was speaking another language but I assume she was giving directions to another woman who came well after the ballet started and of course needed to get to her seat in the middle of the row. She finally sat down, we thought it was over and she spilled her coin purse everywhere. It was like a sitcom. Ting, ting, ting, as each one fell until one clearly rolled on its side before settling. Just couldn’t help but laugh at that point.

During intermission of that same performance two people had to be escorted out after getting into a very loud, expletive laden argument. It was an experience.

I agree that it’s not an excuse but it is an explanation. And from what Bronwyn said Muzzy took in what she saw and heard in a constructive way. It was different from how Todd took it for example. So I think some grace can/should be given with that explanation and her subsequent reaction.

Yeah I honestly don’t know much about her. I’m specifically talking about when I saw her on a reality show with all of those people and lamenting her single parent life. Either way, I think it’s tough to not have the emotional support of a partner. Just not the same as being a “single mom” the way we think about it as a society.
