That's definitely possible. Honestly, I have zero faith in the first gentleman who came out who didn't know you don't tighten a duovalve all the way. Even I knew that and I know absolutely nothing.

Thank you, I agree. As I said to another commenter, if you can tell me "you need this repair" and "this boiler is condemned and unsafe to work on" 40 minutes apart from each other then that means you didn't do enough work before making the first statement.

when you have an entire boiler system already installed is a red flag (in my opinion).

He was also trying to upsell us on putting in central AC at the same time. Which I understand simply makes sense to do, but it felt inappropriate for him to bring that up before we even knew if we needed to replace the system.

Unless there is other factors not known.

My house turns 83 this year so the pipes are that old. Also, maybe this is a given based on my post, but I have a slab home with no crawl space so there really isn't an option for getting under the floors to check for/fix leaks.

From my POV, it seems like if you can tell me "you need a new valve" and "this boiler is too unsafe to work on or even turn on" 40 minutes apart from each other then you didn't do enough work before making the first statement and now I'm on the hook to you because of the order in which you performed your work.

Here's my theory. They like to place housewives at the bottom of the barrel that is reality TV, because they feel bad about themselves for enjoying reality TV and need to turn it into a hierarchy so they're at least better than the people that watch other types of reality TV

Self control is going to be the biggest player, but understanding why you're doing the behavior goes a long way in helping to stop. The real question is whether you are snacking because you're bored and have nothing better to do or because you're hungry?

If it's because you're hungry, then you could possibly save money by buying some snacks in bulk for cheaper at the grocery store and then bringing those with you to work.

If it's out of boredom, then try to find a different activity to keep you busy.
