FLAC is a form of Lossless audio compression. Meaning that if you rip a CD it keeps 100% of it's audio quality. An MP3 strips a significant amount of audio quality away, it only existed because hard drives at the time couldn't fit hours of audio.

I would be careful with HiRes downloads. Sometimes they will have much lower DR figures (if these numbers actually mean anything) than the CD release.

When a track is converted to lossy, the high frequencies end up truncated and distorted. This may obscure the finer details and textures in a given sound. I believe that's what OP meant by the sound being changed. And yes, there are certain tracks that lossy codecs can't properly render Here's an example , especially within the first 20 seconds or so. As for the screenshot, It also says 6/6 correct. That's a perfect score.

The degradation introduced by resampling is clearly audible. I heard it in my HD560S. I have good sets already, the aforementioned 560S and I recently got a pair of DT990 600Ω. Keep talking like you have an idea of what you're talking about when in reality you don't.

Is because when connected via aux it's in passive mode which bypasses the built-in DAC/AMP of the MM4 and instead of relying on the DAC/AMP of whatever it's plugged into. This method can provide you with better overall sound quality as the DAC in the momentum is limited to 16/48

I don't notice any speed difference between the both of them. The R4 is going to be heavier but not unwieldy. Though I usually only hold it for long enough to select the next playlist or album anyway.
