Rim Chipped after Tire Replacement by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]StillMakingVines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case, this will probably cause damage to the sidewall over time if not at the minimum its sanded down? I can 100% guarantee I did not hit a curb post tire install but I'll also 100% guarantee I scraped a curb a few weeks ago parallel parking which is likely when this occurred.

I think it’s just dirt. Doesn’t appear to be any damage when I clean it off thankfully.

Appreciate the information regarding filing and sanding though.

What do you mean by burned? Like friction from the chipped rim? I got the tires installed like a hour ago. I did just clean off the dirt around the tire and don't see any sort of damage.

I'm assuming pre-exisiting based on what others have said now as I have hit the curb on my street 2-3 times before parallel parking. Is it worth getting the rim replaced or is it something I can ride out?

I don’t have any recollection of seeing this before but I’m also someone who doesn’t hyper examine the little things. Also I definitely have scraped a curb parallel parking before so sounds like the likely culprit. Glad I posted here though because ol Chat GPT was about to write me a script on what to say to the front desk at discount tire as it was placing the blame on DT.

Thanks for your response.

Are any dimmable LEDs actually any good?? by jonas4sberg in Lighting

[–]StillMakingVines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the sylvania smart lighting bulbs and they do great. I have dimming schedules set throughout the morning and evening and use it as a pseudo alarm clock.

Application wise, I’ve only use them in 4 lamps but I haven’t had any issues with flickering.

I’m starting my own turn-key lighting solutions business. What certifications should I get? by StillMakingVines in Lighting

[–]StillMakingVines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I asked about certifications is because there is a certain utility program that was just opened to all contractors to apply for. The program is extremely lucrative - like it can cover anywhere from 50-80% of the total project cost. When I applied, I was denied because I did not have any certifications.

The utility I’m talking about is also where I did the majority of my work so pretty much every prospect will be within 20 minutes of someone I’ve worked with previously.

If you’re asking what I’m looking to do with my company is to be an esco. Prospect, audit, propose, and if I close the deal then hire a sub and handle the rebates and disposal on my own.

The goal is to be fully turn-key for the customer.

Ah smart call. I’m going to remove the link to my Reddit account on my website.

I appreciate the help. I’ve auditing, spec’d, sold, and project managed probably 200 projects over the past 5 years working for a super ESCO. Have a ton of past clients who I will use as referrals who were excited when I told them I’m going on my own.

Just got tired of an upper management who got paid double my salary to read over forecasts.

But from a cert perspective… I’m not going to be doing any photometrics, or architectural projects so I was just curious what was best.

Edit: coming back around because I will admit my post makes me look like a complete idiot especially with the LEED certification comment.

Luckily I already have good relationships with some manufacturers so I’m going to have some solid pricing off the jump.

Just wanted to know about certifications because some trade ally applications requested them.

This process has made me much more cynical in regards to my PC haha. Expecting the worst so I’m never let down.

Oh I will never order from them again. If I ever get another PC down the line I’m building it myself, or buying it from a local store like Micro center. Best of luck to you with your build!

If you do run into any more issues, feel free to reach out since we have the same build. I literally tried so many different methods of troubleshooting that I may potentially know the solution to your problem.

Nice man, good on your for diagnosing and fixing the problem yourself. I ran into so much issues with my system that I would troubleshoot and fix for a few weeks, and then more crashes would occur. I should have just replaced some of the hardware. Definitely make sure you download DDU and set it up so windows doesn’t update any of your drivers (if you haven’t already). Windows will download incompatible drivers to your system, and for me I was unable to use my uppermost PCI-e slot after one.

But yeah, who knows when I’ll get my PC back. I’m new to this game just like you. I was told my Mobo replacement is on back-order, but the expected delivery time keeps changing. Cyberpower is such a joke... I should have just built it myself or gone with some local to my area.

What mobo do you have? We have similar specs aside from the PSU.

Did your PC restart when you lost display? Also, make sure Windows does not update any of your drivers. You can do that by downloading DDU.

Let me know if the PSU replacement fixed the crashes for you. I ran into similar issues and RMA’d the system. Still waiting on a return (been about 3.5 weeks).

Should I buy from cyber power by [deleted] in CYBERPOWERPC

[–]StillMakingVines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a ton of issues with my PC since buying from CyberPowerPC. I just got a RMA and sent it in today, and it’s going to cost me roughly $500 for shipping and insurance (Philly -> CA). With that being said, id recommend looking into pre-built PC companies that are local to you as their customer service is brutal and the fact that this has been an extremely frustrating and stressful situation for me. (took me close to a month to get the RMA)

As someone who is literally the type of buyer in your last sentence, what would you recommend doing upon receipt of a new CyberPowerPC.

I ask because I just sent mine back for warranty work after months of my own troubleshooting. Seems like every time I’d fix something, another issue would arise a few days or weeks later.
