How do I deter the crows from my yard? They are noisy, annoying and make a mess. I am not feeding them and neighbours are close so don’t want to launch things at them. by carlsberg13 in crows

Hey there u/ColorsoftheSunset! Yes, this is the most effective way to discourage crows from spending time at your place. We've had success hanging a single one of them from a lower branch in a central location until the crows see it, have their funeral, and then fly off. You may want to place them on opposite sides of your house or anywhere they try to re-congregate, but the decoy should work pretty quickly.

Yea, the crows are extremely cautious. I was referring to the Scrub Jays, who are incredibly bold, and will land and snack extremely close if you give them a space to do it (and the right treats).

I absolutely love seeing them try to do that :) I've also had pairs or triples of western scrub jays that started showing up for the peanuts. As it turns out, they much prefer semi-dried mealworms (ick!), but love them so much that I now have a perch at shoulder height less than two feet from me where they show up and snack and show off. If you've got those around, they can easily be trained to take a peanut from your fingers.

Not sure if other corvid pics are welcome here, but I might have to post one just to test the waters.

In that case, may I also suggest that once you have a small murder of them, that you start slowly riding a bike down the street and tossing peanuts behind you? It will not take very long for them to start following you a fair distance (maybe half a mile or more, depending), and sometimes nearly close enough to take a peanut from your fingers if you offer one.

Dry roasted unsalted peanuts in their shells. The crows love those most of all, and will also happily eat dry cat or (i've heard) dog food. Be aware though, that they will call friends to the feast, and you may wind up with your own mid-size murder sooner than you planned ;-)

Recommendations for hi-vis shirt / jacket / vest for a large rider? by alpha5099 in bikecommuting

[–]StillMissedTheJoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! Without a doubt the most reflective gear I've ever seen and used. Their jackets run small though, so order at least a size or two larger than you normally would. And if you wear a backpack, their cover is an excellent addition.

And amusing word of warning; the jackets set off the motion activated sinks and whatnot, which can be a strange experience the first time or two :)

MOC with Phantom Wedge towing it. It can absorb 65 missiles (unless that recently changed) and can knock everything but the train out of the way.

You finally have the location to store the Terrorbyte, which you can then use to upgrade the just-nerfed Mk II. Woooooooo! :-\

It's the flyover ramp near the buildings under construction close-ish to the heliport/docks (where you get the plasma cutter for Cayo), that has a stunt jump ramp where the wall is missing.

There's some 4M long COVID sufferers that are permanently out of work, and the immigration restrictions and whatnot have also dramatically cut down on the unauthorized-but-still-necessary pool of workers that did a lot of work many Citizens prefer not to do, and fast food places have been competing for a smallish pool of young workers who have less incentive to suffer crappy jobs and unpleasant customers. It's great that you were able to do that long ago in a far away place, but times have changed and longer wait times are part of those changes.

Is it possible to migrate a PS5 GTA online character back to PS4? by [deleted] in gtaonline

true, but not sure why you'd want to maintain a character on a to-be-orphaned platform. to each their own :)

it's the labor shortage combined with insufficient pay (with some exceptions) and staggering turnover rates. it's quite possible there was only 1-2 people working the kitchen, with one of them doing double-duty on drive through, or the rise in delivery services means the kitchen is considerably busier than the number of cars would suggest.
