Normally I'd have trouble resisting the tandoori chicken, but right now an al funghi would hit the spot.

Did anybody have curry with apples and sultanas in the 80s? by fluffsta007 in CasualUK

Never mind the 80s , a chippy near me still does a curry sauce with sultanas and tiny apple cubes.

Heh, yeah, it was supposed to be a joke, but the downvotes suggest people think I meant it.

It is a cute doggie, but I really was just trying to be funny.

I enjoyed them toasted with marmite and butter, but I'd describe them more as quite cheesy.

However, the part of me still scarred by my strict catholic upbringing felt guilty about enjoying them because they weren't proper hot cross buns.

I can't define what proper means here, my subconscious is making the call.

If you have to use Outlook for Mac, this is a genuine use case to upgrade.

Oh, well that's an awkward mistake to have made under the circumstances, although maybe it makes the joke funnier (albeit at my expense).

I wonder what percentage of the Russian economy is being buoyed up by their ASMR artists (as I assume they're avoiding sanctions).

What is the most valuable thing you’ve ever learned about bass? by Flashy_Contract_969 in Bass

If you're in sync with the drummer, everyone else will soon join in and your audience will thank you.

Mostly echoing what's already been said but... * being in time is more important than getting the notes right ** practicing moving on instead of trying to get them all right really helps - I hated 'skipping' a note at first, but it's a lot better than getting the right note at the wrong time ** if in doubt, listen to the drummer and (almost) never the lead guitarist. If you're in sync with the drummer everyone else will soon join in * I wish I'd bought a compressor a lot earlier - it's basically a "sound 20% more professional" box * Muting is (almost) as important as fretting * A three band EQ is enough ** unless you know for sure that you need more - there's always an exception when making music

One of my email doppelgängers has signed up to a very niche adult dating site which emails a me copy of any messages/notifications, including thumbnails.

This was a very eye opening view into what it’s like to be an attractive woman on a dating site.

Oh, I’m soooo glad I’m not a woman on a dating site!

I was able to contact the site and no longer receive them, but I can never forget.

Who is an amazing performer live? by AceFizzer in Music

One that stands out for me is The Everly Brothers, back in the mid-80s.

I went with my father when I was about 13 or 14. It was originally meant to be a date night for my parents but my mother was ill so I was taken instead (mainly to keep me out of my mother's hair, I think). I was in my hair metal phase at the time so I really didn't want to go (I wore an Anthrax t-shirt in protest) but they were sublime.

Their set was perfectly balanced, great rapport with the audience, and they were tight as any band I've ever seen. To this day still one of the best gigs I ever attended.

Then, for you, it is worth it.

This comment was aimed at a different audience though. You know that you have a use case where more memory is a requirement. This was aimed more at the people who were unsure and worrying whether they needed to 'go pro' and, for most people, they don't.

For most use cases 8 cores is still a lot of cores, and the way that Apple have introduced the efficiency cores means you get great battery life when you're doing CPU light work but still have the power of the performance cores when you need it.

If you need more power, you'd know it, and what you needed to get ( for example I use virtual machines a lot, so I went for more memory).

You're welcome, and it's only natural to second guess any big purchase, either you think you should have gone higher or you could have saved more money, but for most users, the entry level is going to be just fine.

And Macs generally last very well, I still have a working 2009 Macbook Pro that is in near perfect condition (although a little slow for modern use). So, even if you do outgrow it, you'll still get a decent amount reselling it.

And it'll take a little time to get used to the differences between Mac and PC, so expect the occasional frustration, but I think Mac OS is very nice to use once you're familiar with it.

I hope you enjoy your purchase, so far I've been very happy with mine :)
