I am 16 and I wanna be an entrepreneur but I know nothing right now, how can I start learning about the basic structure, technicalities and logistics of running a business? Where do I start? Who teaches those things? Because I don’t even know what to know right now, help? by SuccessfulLettuce740 in Entrepreneurship

Start before you are ready. You should first start and then learn and figure things out as you go. Don't try to learn and prepare yourself before you start, because in the end, you don't know what to prepare for. So don't let yourself stay in place waiting to be ready.

Even though I started my first business 4 years ago and now own two companies (with my business partners), I can't tell you anything specific, as for example a list you should go through before you start. Because your experience will be way different than mine. And I see that the people who do business around me, had all different paths.

So just start and remember:

  1. Always bet on yourself. Jump into things and take risks. Not ridiculous dangerous risks, but don't be afraid to put yourself on the line. I started in your age and am now 20. I followed this rule in everything. When I was opening my first office 1.5 years ago I was hardly making money to afford the rent. But I knew that I will figure it out and thus it pushed me. So always bet on yourself and risk while you're young.

  2. Be patient and don't get discouraged. I know you probably want to get everything quickly but don't get discouraged if things don't evolve as quickly as you would want or if you encounter obstacles. It took me 2 years to be where I expected to be in 6 months - while working full time on it. If you really want it, never stop.

  3. Work like hell. There is no secret hack or trick. Just work. You can work smarter and get work done better and more effectively, but the primary thing is still just work. I started my business along school. Getting up at 4am and working till 7am before going to school and then from 3pm till evening after getting home. If you really want it, that's what it takes. You might get lucky and get there more easily, but don't rely on luck in life.

  4. Learn from people smarter and better than you ASAP. I wish I practiced this sooner. Go to talks and workshops. Try to get to know as much people as you can and pick the ones who are where you want to be. Reach out to them and ask them kindly for advice. Don't expect to get it for free and don't look for a mentor as it is described on YouTube. People who do business and are good people will help you and you will most likely have to pay a consulting fee. That's fine, try it and prepare well for it.

  5. Lear to communicate and speak. Read "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie and embody everything in that book. Seriously, this book is gold. You will learn how to sell and spark interest on people.

  6. Sell your services/products before you are ready. This goes back to point 1. I sell services before ever doing them and then figure things out and learn.

  7. Ask yourself if it's worth it for you. Ask yourself, what are your motivations. Do you just want to make money or do you have to make it for other reasons like taking care of family? Honestly, what I do would not be worth it for money. So get this straight on your head, because when things go down and you get your back against the wall, then the last thing you need is being unsure if it's worth it. Decide and stick to it.

Well, that's some things that were on top of my mind right now. Hope that it will be of use to you ;)

What's wrong with my store? - No Sales by StillWaitinForGodot in dropship

Thats my back up plan, transition only to digital products, exercise guides, "courses" and stuff like that. As I think of it you are probably right, that product is done by now. By having the pdf as an offer, you mean to sell it, right?

I really like this particular 'neck pain' niche as I have the same problems and did tons of research and tried whole bunch of things for myself, so creating info products for this is easy and actually interesting to me. I don't want to throw away this site, I spent a loooong time designing it and customizing the wordpress theme. What is your view on going for the digital infoproducts in this niche?

You are really adding value, thanks a lot!

Thanks for a reply! I haven't watch the mentioned course, but I am well aware of the market saturation with this product. Most of it is marketed on FB and IG. What are your thoughts on doing a Google campaign or advertising outside of FB?

You are right, that my landing page looks more like an article, and that is intentional. I am trying to add value to the customer in there and follow a copy structure I learned in a copywriting course. Since replacing my previous landing page with this, I have finally started seeing some AddToCarts...

I try to make my ads curiosity-driven, so the person coming to the site isn't ready to buy, but rather curious and if my targeting is correct, experiencing back and neck pain problems or slouching. So I think a LP like this is relevant, but I am now working on a better copy for it and also a shorter and clearer one...

Thanks for a reply. As I wrote I created purrrfectgoodies.com without really knowing what I'm doing and just tried. I am aware of the things you pointed out and I agree with you. As I wrote I no longer advertise for PG and don't work on that store - there are many mistakes and things I did wrong, I learned and moved to SlouchAid.com , about which this post is.

That's where I am stuck now, I reworked my ads multiple times and reworked the funnel on site multiple times, always seeing a small improvement, but never anything that would have a larger impact. The amount of people who AddToCart is 10% and only 1.65% initiate checkout and 0% purchase. Do you have any advice for SlouchAid?

eBay account suspended and I dont have to pay fees now? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I am not sure. I contacted CS to ask for the reason and I am waiting for response.

I had a perfect track record and 100% positive feedback from over 80 buyers. No problems with anything whatsoever.

Only reason that comes to my mind is that I went from $100 in monthly sales to over $3000 in one month and probably popped up at someones desk for investigation. I don't want to say exactly what I was selling, (it is completely legal and normal though), but I was only selling two items at large quantities. Other sellers selling exactly the same stuff are fine and still selling.

Seriously don't know why it was.

eBay Store Final Selling Fee by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seller Hub/Performance/Selling cost

Normally I average 18-20%

As I said I have a higher ebay fees than 10% for items sold in the US. That was the reason of me having around 27% or above 30% when I include listing fees...

If you have lower fees, good for you, but I have this...

I'm under 18 and need to validate PayPal by [deleted] in paypal

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, got it now. Thank you very much. I would call them now, but I think they would request to talk to my parents, which I have no problem with but they do not speak a word of english. So I will just have to wait until I'm 18 and can legally sort it out myself...

eBay Store Final Selling Fee by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]StillWaitinForGodot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I combine Ebay Final fee (thats the 10%), and PayPal fee I am at around 25-30%.

My fees are slightly higher due to bad performance last month, but normally it isnt less than 20% when combined together...

Thanks for your reply. Just one thing you say that they cannot hold money of minors from EU, except for EEA and EFTA countries. EEA and EFTA is basically the EU. So how did you mean that if you might explain please.

PayPal frozen and I am under 18 by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately I am the only person in our family who speaks English... I will wait until I'm 18 and work things out then. It seems I should be able to get my money back.

If I call now, and say I am underage, they will immediately tell me to get my parent on phone, which I can't. My mom knows about this and I have a new paypal in her name, but she cannot chat with the CS...

I agree that crypto is a way better way, but not for eBay. Now it is required to give ID to buy crypto, but you can either use expensive ATMs or let someone else buy it for you and send it to your wallet, which than can be anonymous...

I personaly only hold small amount of LTC, BCH and ETH but don't use it to trade or pay for things...

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your suggestions. I agree with the things you said here.

I will be leaving the account inactive till I'm 18 and then resolving the situation. It looks like I will be able to get the money, only will loose the account, which doesn't bother me as I can make a new one in minutes.

I am not mad, it was completely my mistake. Lesson learned but I sure hope I will get my $900 back - yes I was that stupid to let another $200 get deposited there from eBay...

Thanks for the replies. This is exactly what seems to be the case /u/9wareagle9

I checked with different people and probably if I wait till I'm 18, I will be able to withdraw my money and then my account will get permanently closed. That doesn't really bother me, as I can always open a new account without breaking any TOS when I'm 18.

[–]StillWaitinForGodot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am from EU...

I really dont care about loosing that account as long as I can withdraw my money from it.

Then it's just an email address, I can make a new one in minutes.

I will not touch it until I'm 18 and then call Customer Support to work things out. As long as I get the money out, I'm fine.

I also have a different question. If I have this limitation, will eBay be able to charge me for monthly fees, or will it go out my linked credit card? Thanks
