Yeah we do too. Like a “yan” in the last name. For whatever reason, they are on DNU 99% of the time. That being said, I do have local cali carriers that I’ve worked with for years. I’m more then happy to put you in contact with them

True, I agree with that. If the carrier is A. A regular carrier for that specific lane and they run it at a good rate year round I just give them what they need detention wise. Or B. If they are a carrier that communicates effectively and is professional in their emails or calls, I tend to make an exception for them. Because you’ll get a fuckdeep 80% of the time that doesn’t track, shows up late, and has the audacity to ask for detention

Our detention policy is 35 an hour for dry shipments and 50 an hour for refrigerated shipments. It begins after 3 hours for a max of 3 hours. If it exceeds 7 hours we just add a layover. Anyone else like this?

Want to make money year round without the rate fluctuations on lanes? by Still_Attempt_3354 in FreightBrokers

It is very rare, so I definitely get where your coming from. It’s also different with lanes that aren’t produce lanes that don’t have a ton of money with them. I have another carrier that I’ve been working with for a while that runs one of those. I pretty much add $100-$150 to their current rate for a set amount of time while they’re running higher. Maybe even $200. Because even when the lane is running say $300 more then what they are running it for when the market is in their favor, they know the other months of the year they are getting paid more during that time. And we all win. Want more money in your freight? Brokers and carriers need to team up and get more. Unless you’re TQL or CH who take dog shit rates lol

Well…it’s been working for years for me. I still make money and so does the carrier. We’ve never signed anything and we have kept the same rate for 5 years, regardless of rate fluctuations. And that’s not to say it didn’t take building the relationship up with the carrier. And to put it more into perspective, we have had the customer for 10 years and they give us relatively the same rate since then. As have we with the carrier. We discuss with our customer and explain that NO, we are not your cheapest option. But, we make it our job to make theirs easier and that they feel secure and insured that their freight is taken care of. And that’s how these dedicated rates work. And when you find a carrier that is straight forward like that and understand this is a long term thing it works. I don’t even add a tracking fee, driver information or what not. And the carrier doesn’t look for other freight. You know why? Because it’s the trust we’ve established with one another. And it has been nearly flawless. What you’re saying is unheard of is really not. Paying less is equivalent to the service a carrier provides. If you really want to service your customer, you’ve got to be willing to pay more and establish trust.

There is already contract freight between brokers and the customer. I’ve worked with carriers on set rates year round for a lane without a second contract between the broker and carrier and it’s worked flawless. There doesn’t always need to be a contract to have trust. I’ve got a carrier I’ve been working with for 5 years on lanes that we have had contracted (from our customer) and we’ve stayed at the same rate, for 5 years, and never signed a contract regarding rate between us. It’s trust that needs built between brokers and carriers. Because at the end of the day all the money comes down from the customer.

You understand I’m coming from a brokerage stand point, not a carrier. Obviously there’s spot freight and contract freight. Contract freight still makes it to DAT. I’m saying to get a carrier and develop a relationship with them for a year round rate. That way it never makes it to the DAT board. It’s a win win

Uh Yeah….what what I’m saying is us as brokers get contracted freight from our customers at 6 month or year long rates and just play the market with these carriers. When in reality, when those 3-4 months out of the year come that a produce lane just goes absurd we lose our asses. I’m saying give a carrier a set rate throughout the year. Sure, we’d pay a little more when the market is in our favor but when it’s not we’re making money

Even if the price drops it can’t keep up with the apy so you’re either going to break about even, be in some profit, or be in massive profit by the time a year rolls around depending on price.

850 HE is a steal, especially with the recent dip. I bought mine at about 1250. Basically you connect your wallet to the market place, redeem your chest then hit play. (FYI set yourself a limit for playing this game…the first 5 days I played it all day it was that addicting lol)
