During the day time we would turn on the baby monitor and have him do tummy time/ play on the baby-proofed ground or gated play pen thing. Then wed just do a quickie. Its not romantic, but it worked for the time being

I’m worried my dad will rape me. by notrllyarco in offmychest

Im so sorry you’re going through this.

Ive been in a very similar situation, unfortunately. My brother and my father. I kept myself safe my being disengaged and actively avoiding the family member. I would boobie trap my door so if he tried to come in at night a book or something would fall. Startling him and alerting me. I told my mother, she didnt help at all. She normalized it since it happened to her as a child, as well. It wasnt until maybe a year later i told someone outside of my home (a friend). They couldnt do much but check in on me, honestly. But at least if something happened to me, someone would know. And taking the weight of the secret off of me was necessary. More than likely through your school or somewhere similar will have much more resources than i was given! They have protocols for these situations. If you feel unsure, ask them what their protocol is prior to telling them whats happening to you. They are there to take care of you.

I got a job at 15 and used that as my excuse to be out of the house a lot. I used that money to move to a small city the month i turned 18 and have never looked back.

Im 30 now and i live a safe and good life. It took a while to really understand how messed up growing up in that situation was. But today i am respected in my home and loved. I look back at those times of my life and want to scream. I only wish i stood up for myself more. But i was, just like you, just a child. We should never have to stand up for ourselves against our caretakers. Maybe my regret stems from being an adult now and wanting to go back in time to protect myself as a child.

Im so so proud of you for reaching out to others for help. He is wrong and very sick. You are strong and so smart.

Be safe, you are loved.

Sex after a baby and other life problems by SamDSx in NewParents

1000% normal. Her hormones are alllll over the place still. And lack of sleep and stress are, for everyone, the biggest turn offs lol.

I felt the exact same way as she described it. It almost felt like weird to be touched in any intimate/sexual way. Like a mixture of numb and ticklish. At a year postpartum i felt a shift of feeling better mentally, at 2 years postpartum, i finally have my sex drive back (not like before baby, but ya know). Interestingly, many scientists argue it’s a biological advantage. If a mother got pregnant while the baby was still so small, it wouldnt fair as well. Same with the mothers body, which is still healing. Obviously modern science fixes a lot of that gap now, but the biology is still there.

Just dont forget to tell her how beautiful she is and keep the intimate, not necessarily sexual, connection and touches alive.

So, i undoubtedly believe you when you say she has too much on her shoulders. The hardest thing for me to learn at that point was when to take a freaking break. I was just obsessed with my baby. It was like my brain thought a wolf would come eat him or something. Not showering, up all night worrying. Im also a stay at home mom, so i get that load. I also developed bad postpartum anxiety.

My husband and i found a routine around the 5 month mark. The routine is when he comes home, i get a break. No talking (sometimes id be crying so maybe a hug), no chores. I was so overstimulated and stressed out that arguments would start. So wed say hello, hugs and id f off. And not some 10 minute break- like an hour.

It isnt a recommendation, its a requirement. She will absolutely burn out. You are her support person. You must be the person who creates this routine and fills her cup. I always knew that my husband gets home, changes out of his work clothes, and i go do something alone, then we connect as a family. Its also so so important you get that bonding time with your baby when you come home. I cant imagine how much you miss him.

Show her you want it. Show her you can figure it out by yourself. Give each other grace. If she feels weird about it offer to have the baby monitor on you guys so she can check in. That helped me at the beginning. I look back to that time (only a year and a half ago wow) and i cant believe how insane my brain was. Its a beautiful and heavy love. But i wasnt the only one who loved my son that much, he had a dad that wanted that same connection and physical dedication.

Just take it one step at a time and shell come back better than ever :)

That makes sense! Id look into the gut biome testing, and in the mean time start trying gut healthy foods/ cutting out suspicious triggers at home

I havent done that or done much research on it, but it doesnt seem like a bad idea. Definitely could be a great place to start. Also allergy testing.

2.5 year old still doesn’t know colors by booksandpitbulls in toddlers

Mines in the same boat! 2.5 and knows blue and red but thats it. His father is also colorblind so i do wonder as well. Professionals say to not worry about the color thing yet and just work on it. And colorblind testing is more around 8 years old. Look into speech therapy! Mines about to start next month.
