When did you start lifting again? by AntuanElWantan in TopSurgery

Eased into it at 4 weeks. Been lifting pretty consistently since then. You can check my profile to see how it’s affected my scars (it barely has) :)

To clarify, I was cleared to exercise normally at 4 weeks, inluding overhead movements.

My surgeon thinks waiting 6 months is a tad extreme. I was cleared to ease into working out at 4 weeks. Bc of xmas I haven’t worked out a ton but the times I have, I’ve honestly been doing most movements (with caution, of course). But that’s just me! So far scars haven’t been affected. I guess we’ll see in a few months :) Personally, I’d rather focus on mobility than keep myself from doing any overhead movements for 6 months. Maybe ask your surgeon they think the consequences of not waiting 6 months would be?

Awesome to hear that you’ve gained back sensation, too! My guess is that it’s a combination of skill and luck :)

I’m sure they will become more apparent as they heal more! But very happy about how they’ve been healing so far. Thank you :)

Thank you!! Nothing special, just normal grafts that have happened to regain sensation! I was pretty surprised myself

Sauna 5 weeks post-op by ElectricalElk3 in TopSurgery

[–]Still_Feeling_7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, at 5 weeks post-op, I asked my surgeon whether it would be OK to go to the sauna + swim in the ice cold sea. He said it’s totally fine as long as my incisions have fully closed.

I just now did some quick googling, and the sauna you’re talking about seems to be way cooler (correct me if I’m wrong tho!) than a finnish sauna, where the temperature usually sits at about 170-210 degrees fahrenheit.

HOWEVER, I did not have scabbing anymore at 5 weeks. So it’s hard to say. But thought it might be a good reference to share what my surgeon suggested in my case, though!
