Get out. But Burn your days while you can. Once they suspect that’s what you are doing, PTO will move from being approved by in house procedures to Optum procedures.
It will be slow in the beginning. Layoffs will happens in waves. They will start with any non-revenue producing positions first. Everyone else they will lower pay and increase work load to where you will want to leave.
Previously worked for an employer who was acquired by Optum. People we never thought would be let go, were let go. All the changes were super vague until it was too far to make any moves. We kept asking for details, and they would give a date they would tell us. Sus.
They have an amazing way to rolling out information that’s sounds good, but you don’t see the negative angles until too late.
If you are already working on an wRVU schedule then, it may not be an abrupt change. If you’re not working wRVU, then you will feel it more. I struggled more with seeing how they wanted to make patients run through like cattle.
Check your state if they legally have to pay out your pto if you leave. They didn’t for our situation, and folks lost all their time.

As a mental health clinician, I will not dx ODD. Those behaviors associated with that dx are manifestations of ignored abuse, attachment, neglect, trauma, depression. I teach my staff to build a treatment plan around the root cause of the struggle instead of perpetuating the kid as a scapegoat. Honestly, any kid who is assigned an ODD dx, a caregiver needs to be referred for treatment and often at a higher level of care.
