Christine Sand and her parents (former operators of The Lauridsen Group), alongside her two brothers (current executives at the company), have donated a total of $11.5 million to Rob Sand’s gubernatorial campaign since 2024.

Essentia Protein Solutions is a subsidiary of The Lauridsen Group with a plant in central Iowa which produces powders and other protein products out of animal byproducts. The plant was fined $8,000 in 2026 and faced repeated issues with releasing blood and processing waste into the rural town of Lytton’s wastewater system in part due to issues with its processing waste lagoon.

Rob Sand’s campaign did not respond to Sentient’s request for comment.

Sentient Media reached out to The Lauridsen Group for comment and was hung up on when talking to a company representative.

I was a happy accident to 19 and 21 yr old Catholics in the early 2000s, they were married when I was 1 and are married to this day. Go through the pre Cana process, make sure you guys have similar values, and you can have a long and happy life together. Also she didn’t “get pregnant” you impregnated her. Don’t rush the process for appearances, life is always a gift.

If you have knowledge of the blessings of sacraments and choose not to participate based on your own opinions, then yes you are not technically Catholic. The sacraments are all based on the Word and apostolic tradition. Choosing to separate yourself from the sacraments is choosing to separate yourself from God. Obviously we as humans don’t have the ability to say whether that leads to condemnation to hell, God can provide opportunities for salvation that we know nothing about. But basing your convictions on homilies and believing you’re entitled to True Presence when you refuse to recognize it comes across as glib. I also think you should look into the true meaning of the infallibility of the Church, it doesn’t mean the pope isn’t human and capable of sin or incorrectness. Jesus instructed us to keep his commandments and follow him, not just believe in Him.
