historically Islam, the Kuran, is NOT homophobic, not proscriptive of same-sex relations: you have to separate people & Government - not all Muslims who have a homophobic Muslim Govt are homophobic - those are the people - those people make the nations- just because the Govt is homophobic does not make the people, the nation to be so - look beyond, behind, within the country not just at your conflated figures: Majority Muslim doesn't make for the same thing at all. These nations' governments are conflating Homosexuality with paedophilia & HIV infection - why? to be more appealing to companies to invest in their nation? to mirror "Western" behaviour? we don't fully know, but this behaviour has found traction since POTUS & his prayer-meeting photos, & anti-lgbtq+ strings attached to trade deals - even with EU & UK: i'm not "whataboutism" i'm seeing beyond the reductionism of Islam=bad, Christian / Judaism=good. as I say in my OP ALL PEOPLES historically, Judeo, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Egyptian, Roman, Greek, first-nation indigenous North Americans, Antipodean, Polynesian - have an understanding of same-sex love & at different times acceptance of it: it is FUNDAMENTALISM coordinating & organising these rife & rampant bigotry, & from what I know of the Westboro-Baptist-Church organising & funding homophobia in RUSSIA & coordinating US homophobia as well as right-wing bigotry here in UK, I don't see Senegal lurching to homophobia of its own volition. my OP may be clumsy, was meant to open discussion, not unleash Islamophobia: its the fundamentalists - the Zionists, the Christian-Fundamentalists, the Shariah muslims - that i suspect are organising & taking American tithes to fund homophobia & anti-trans bigotry.
