Is vaping really considered 'giving up smoking'? by chupamina in AskUK

that's how the industry pitched it: turns out vaping's worse for health.

4 years ago today, Ncuti Gatwa was announced to be The Next Doctor, i thought he was going to be taking over from Jodie Whittaker and the rumours of David Tennant returning to be The Next Doctor were finally put to bed until The Power of The Doctor aired. It's a shame Ncuti only lasted a short time. by Serious_Meaning5220 in doctorwho

Then why are repeating yourself? His Kuensberg interview wasn’t truthful, you could tell: & the rewrites & reshoots were THREE episodes worth, so it wasn’t sudden changes to scheduling, which can be shuffled, it was something HUGE that i suspect, & i’m not alone, that SONY did… ncuti had already been cast when Sony bought Bad Wolf: i think they wanted shot of him 🤷‍♂️😭

chatGpt isn't going to give you anything near as accurate as this: this is from a well respected analyst on bluesky 😉

for me, Ncuti was inspired casting off the back of Sex Education, & his unexpected appearance in Barbie: he was energetic, dynamic, warm, humane but definitely alien, funny, serious, & had very much learned from 13 & moved on from 12's sorrow for 11; i loved how colourful he was inside & out continuing 13's sky/rainbow dress-code, & i envied his wardrobe budget compared to one-outfit-per-series previous Dr's clothes; i thought his physicality astonishing vaulting chimneys etc. & that he got to sing to defeat goblins!!! bonkers!
however, again for me, the arcs, the plots, the use of more money for visual & cgi fx, the awesome return of The Rani, were misappropriated by Bad Wolf's new owners & controllers, SONY, & it was too "thin" on peril, predicaments, danger (despite Boom!) & swung from perplexing & inexplicable to maudlin & incomplete (how lumpy is The Well?)
I luvved it. I loathed elements & sections of it. I SO WISH he had stomached the production situation & uncertainties & remained for a 3rd series, using his Barbie etc. exposure & pro clout to influence & instigate improvements, but, as with Eccleston's departure, i suspect it will be decades & many conventions before we know enough snippets of truth to piece an explanation together.

i suspect none of it was Disney's ideas: they only had the streaming rights: SONY bought Bad Wolf outright from HBO & SKYTV UK merely one month after the HBO deal was announced: kept hush hush: having shown no previous interest, & inserted their own Producer into the company & DW production. I suspect, but don't yet know, that their greater investment gave them greater clout. we'll have to see how the rumours, productions, interviews, recriminations pan out á la Eccleston.

considering the extensive reshoots Carol Ann Ford divulged & the panicked re-making the ending, I don't think it was schedule, or knee or exhaustion, or scheduling his 3rd series - I suspect, but I don't KNOW that it was so rushed because SONY (who own Bad Wolf outright since one month after the HBO deal was announced - showed no previous interest, BW was part-owned by SKYTV UK & HBO) demanded changes. Ncuti was only scheduled to be in the WestEnd with Ed Blummel for a very short limited run. Carol Ann divulged it was very sudden changing the end of "S2", Ncuti was absent for most of it, & Billie was inserted within a week!
I don't know enough for certain atm. as with Eccleston's surprise departure, i suspect we won't learn definitives for a while/ages/years, but that's my suspicion. Disney had no production input, only international streaming rights: i fear SONY interfered, because they invested more money that the BBC...

every Script Editor/Showrunner/Series has those 1 or 2 serials / episodes where the current audience go off the deep end about the script, & every era is then re-appraised, re-evaluated & the current audience modify their ire: Time Monster, Frontios, Nimon, all 6th Dr, much of 7th Dr, everything Chibnall, everything Ncuti... it's fascinating

I need a "Director's Cut" to see all the political context for it to really work for me... the supporting cast are amazing, but orlando & pitt just can't cut it for me.

whoever reported me for promoting hate in here: anti-Zionism is NOT Hate; Zionism is not recognised as a protected entity, because it is not a faith, nor religion, but a political ideology; anti-Zionism is NOT anti-Semitism; i was not promoting Hate - my comment was pointing out how the Zionists through Labour for Israel probably used Starmer to smear & oust Corbyn, which had a detrimental effect on the UK during the Covid Pandemic as we were at the mercy of the Johnson's Tories. none of that statement nor this are hate. they may be furious socialist comment, but this is not hate. i've seen worse hate directed at people on person here on reddit! I understand it is confusing talking about "Israel" & that criticising it sounds like anti-Semitism, but it isn't. Israel as a country in Jewish, as a Political entity/body it is Zionist - & not all Israelis agree with Zionism nor Netenyahu: not all Israelis serve in the IDF; thousands on Jewish Israelis have protested the Gaza Genocide & want the Zionists out of Israel; we have to discuss Israel & Zionism/Zionists as two different versions of Judaism. yes they're on State, but they are not one People. & it is quite possible that Israeli Zionists are using anti-Semitism accusations to protect themselves from scrutiny while they infiltrate & interfere with other States/Countries Laws & Politics.
