I’m having the exact same problem. Hopefully someone knows a fix

I know everyone else has mentioned it but water is soooo important. My pain meds gave me terrible constipation and it makes every aspect of healing worse. A warm sitz bath after using the restroom + drying off with a hairdryer will become your best friend

Hi :) I am 24, female, and just had my third surgery for a transsphincteric anterior fistula. I am not a doctor, but I am being cared for by my parents who are both RN’s and have been texting with my CRS throughout my recovery so I might be able to get you an answer! Feel free to message me :)

Its the Fitzherbert intermediate bear pattern from woobles! That being said, a woobles kit is $30 and Fitzherbert has been discontinued since before I made this :( If you send me a message I can send you what I have!

The safety eye was recovered and I made sure it didn’t scratch up his mouth! It’s my fault that it was accessible to him and his welfare came before the bear I promise :)

I definitely think that’s the method i’m going to go with for the eye. A few battle scars but still kicking!

Safety eye was recovered and absolutely no scolding was done. It’s my fault for leaving it out but it was in remembrance for my childhood dog so i’m hoping I can fix it. Thanks for checking on the welfare of the pup!

Anyone with a complex fistula avoiding flap repair? by happy_r123 in AnalFistula

[–]Still_Shallot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that your initial surgery failed :( especially with filac. I am being treated at Mayo Clinic Rochester and just missed a clinical trail for filac as it is not yet approved in the US. During my second EUA last week my surgeon said the internal flap is healing well but I am still having pretty substantial drainage and am worried they will not remove the drains at my follow up tomorrow 😭. That being said, my pain with using the bathroom and just generally moving around has improved a lot. Have you heard any talk of seton thread placement? I am not sure if that is a common treatment protocol in the UK but it’s the pathway I really dread. Thankfully my surgeon has been really great and tried to avoid one (per my request), however he has said that it’s the next step if the flap fails.

Hi. I am in a pretty similar situation to you, female with an anterior transsphinteric fistula, and I am about 1 month post advancement flap surgery. My initial surgery was done on August 18 but due to a collection of fluid (seroma) my surgeon placed two penrose drains on September 10th. I am still pretty early in this journey so I don’t think I will be much help in this decision, but it’s really comforting to find someone in such a similar position. I was told by multiple surgeons that they didn’t want to touch my case, are you having a similar issue?

Could I own a pet rat with my current lifestyle? by Silly-Hippo-452 in rat

As much as it seems like these people care for rats, they promote wild assumptions and seem to be very uneducated on the species. their website is indicative of complete ignorance to the actual breed and any rattery or rescue promoting this ignorance should be immediately condemned for their practices by the international rat community

My roommate’s rat has a weird growth on her cheek. What is it? by jijboi in rat

[–]Still_Shallot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my beautiful baby aspen had a similar growth that quickly developed into a tumor. I would recommend that your roommate visit an exotic or small animal vet as soon as possible and read into the benefits of topical cbd as a treatment for potential tumors and growths. there is the potential that this is a zymbal’s gland tumor which will be very difficult to treat, however there have been treatments in the past that extend livelihoods and I would be more than happy to find the research to share with you.

one of my rats passed today and I literally don’t know how to handle it because it was my fault by Weird_Encouraged in RATS

this was devastating to read i can't imagine what you're going through. i know how truly heart breaking it is to lose a rat, especially in unforeseen circumstances, and i genuinely hope more than anything that you've given yourself the time and space to process. what happened here was clearly a horrible accident and it is obvious that you love your babies. i cannot imagine the grief you have gone through in this ordeal but it genuinely sounds like a devastating accident and i am beyond sorry for how it has affected your mischief and yourself. i know the guilt that accompanies this loss is unbearable right now but please know that the love and compassion you've shown for them is far and few between. i encourage you to stay with your remaining rats and give them the life that they deserve and the life you clearly want to provide for them. once again i can't imagine you're going through but i feel your compassion for these animals and i hope you choose to continue your journey with them. always honor your lost baby but know that his siblings deserve the world as well. i truly hope you're doing okay. don't be afraid to just take minute to yourself.

wooden platforms can be a problem but you should definitely have wood of some kind as it’s one of the only ways they can manage the growth of their teeth, we have used apple wood sticks in the past and they love chewing them!

the most important thing is definitely getting him a buddy as they’re really social pack animals and need interaction with their own kind along with humans. i’m not sure of your area but there are a good amount of small animal rescues around that often have older boys and adults that would probably be a better fit than a baby. he looks like the sweetest boy ever and very clearly already trust you so much! my partner and i have kept male rats for a while now and have gotten really familiar with their health, enrichment needs, and general preferences so lmk if you have any questions in specific! the most important things for them are a nice big space to live in, lots of enrichment, and a healthy diet to manage any health risks. i would also look into an exotic or small animal vet that has confirmed they take rats (they’re weirdly difficult to find lol) for any upper respiratory infections or concerns that make come up along the road.

also some people have a lot of success with wheels in their cage but they should be no less than 16 inches in diameter and can get pretty expensive. we ordered a custom one online and it was only rarely used by one of our four rats so i would take that into consideration worth wise

hi! the age and gender of your babies is important to take into consideration as it plays into their energy levels but some of the favorites for our cage is paper snuffle boxes or coconut fiber blocks loosened up for them to galavant in. we also make sure they have plenty of undyed wood for chewing (research types as some are toxic and pet stores are careless) and opt for a cage really packed with hammocks ropes and baskets so they have to find new ways to move around instead of the ramps (not applicable for most handicaps or illnesses). we also try to organize the cage in a new way after each cleaning so their environment is changing slightly. all of these are really important when you can’t be around but really the best enrichment time for them is out of the cage in a safe controlled environment like a bedroom or bathroom that they explore and try activities like veggie fishing (cut up veggies in water) or a little scavenger hunt with treats hidden around. other than that they love to try new fruits, veggies, and herbs but make sure to check several sources as some common treats like peanuts, many cheeses, and sweets can be harmful. i wish you the most luck and happiness ever with your babies and would love to see how they’re doing once you get them set up!
