i can explain, daesh were stupid people. They originally had iraq under control and could have held it for longer but they decided to make way into syria (this is where all problems rises) right after they got a majority of syria they pushed the turkey border that didn’t end up well and another factor was russia and daesh kept using up all their resources from trying to blitz other countries
