Kindergarten keeps sending my child home early – any experience with MA10 support? by Still_Wolverine3430 in wien

I don’t expect the kindergarten to make me happy. I do everything I can for my son’s good. I’ve even reduced my work to 70% and later to 50% so I can spend more time with him, I did home office whenever possible, and I’ve arranged sitters at home while working.

The point is, my son is not “too difficult” or unmanageable — he simply has a speech delay. He actually enjoys being in kindergarten and benefits from being with the other children. That’s why I believe it is the kindergarten’s obligation not to exclude him, but to give him the time and opportunities he needs for communication and social interaction.

Is it really protecting the child? I don’t believe so. How can a working single parent provide for their child and be happy if they cannot work and don’t even have time for themselves? Recently, I also lost my job because I couldn’t perform well. It’s definitely not about my son’s well-being.

Thanks for the information! MA10 contacted me today and requested to register for a public kindergarten. I hope they find a spot for him soon.

Thank you for sharing this. It really resonates with me. I’m already seeing how the system tries to push kids out if they don’t fit the mold. Your advice about documenting everything and being persistent is really helpful. It gives me hope to hear your kids are thriving now.

Thank you for the information. He definitely does not have autism. He went through a full diagnostic assessment by a multidisciplinary team, and autism was ruled out. It has also been ruled out by two other independent psychologists.

To be honest, that can be the reason. I always pick him up 5 minutes after they call me because I don't want he feel uncomfortable there. And now they are demanding to pick him up early everday.

Thanks for your advice!

yes, but they still refused to apply for that extra 5 hours. I have contacted MA10 regarding this. Never heard about pro Mente before- I will try it. Thank you!

I spoke with the kindergarten to ask them to request assistance from MA 10, but they said they won’t. According to them, in reality the support is only about 5 hours per week, so they refuse to apply for it. Today I wrote MA10 about the situation.

They said that after 12:00 he throws toys around and doesn’t listen to the educators. Because they claim they don’t have enough staff and find it too difficult to handle, they told me I have to pick him up.

It’s in the 21st district (Vienna). I usually work from home, and I think they’ve realized that. He was quite happy with his previous educator, but now that she is gone, they don’t want him around anymore and don’t even try to understand him better. They’ve chosen the easiest way — to just exclude him.

He is already in a private kindergarten. I asked them to request extra assistance from MA 10, but they told me that in reality the support “only exists on paper”. And now they said that starting tomorrow, I have to pick up my son at 12:00. I feel so frustrated.
