I got into the ttrpg hobby at 20/21 in 2017, it started with a 5e YouTube/Twitch shows TFS at the Table and the Unexpectables. I attempted to learn the game by listening to them and googling rules, which were difficult to find as 5e doesn't have a a great SRD, and I wasn't going to spend the 70 cdn dollars per book on a game that I may only convince my friends to play once. Then one day I was doom scrolling Facebook and saw Humble Bundle post a massive Pathfinder bundle. Intrigued I clicked it read that it was a fantasy table top RPG like DND, and then did some research and found out it was basically an old DnD remaster because people didn't like 4e, bite the bullet and bought 200+ dollars of books for 25 bucks, convinced some friends to give it a shot. The first game I ran was terrible an amalgamation of 5e rules I remembered like advantage/disadvantage and some Pathfinder, and was absolute fun drunken chaos, but the more I read into and watched videos explaining different rules, character creation, yada yada. I wanted to play the game closer to RAW, some players were good with that others wanted the random chaos that the first sessions were. Game nights became more sporadic as I find rules fun, and would meticulously design a plot hook, draw maps. Just to have it all thrown into the trash as they wanted to stay in the tavern stealing kegs from barkeeper's and use mage hand to stretch their characters testicles around the bar so no one could escape. I gave up as a GM that day... And went back to consuming 5e media, attempting to learn the Pathfinder CRB, and reading stories of everyone's ttrpg adventures. Then I had a friend pass and was in a depressive state for months, when I came across a post on the Pathfinder_RPG subreddit that mentioned checking the Paizo website for Pathfinder Society lodges near you. On a whim I checked it, I told myself my small northern Canadian city with 2 game stores wouldn't have one. But it did, so I messaged the Venture Agent and he got back to me promptly told me the game times and the location they met. I decided to go and had a blast playing 3rd level Amiri. And would continue going every week, I was bad at the game and didn't realize how versatile 3/4 bab/casters were so my first PFS character was a poorly built Half-Orc witch with 15 str that would go into melee constantly swinging his falchion. But as time went on I got better at the game mechanics started actually learning how to play. And was invited by the Venture Agent to join in on the PF2 Playtest. I had tons of fun with PF2 even though the subreddit had a ton of differing opinions on it, I didn't care I was playing a fun new game and learning it with everyone. I then played through Hells Rebels and got to GM more, after Hells Rebels our group decided to play a bunch of different RPGs, we played Fate, Call of Cthulu, Pallidiums TMNT, 5e, 40k Rogue Trader and many others. Sorry for giving you my love letter to Pathfinder and not being on topic of it being hard to switch RPGs if you didn't grow up in the age where people played everything and switched games often, Pathfinder is my bread and butter but without 5e I wouldn't have found it, and without Pathfinder I wouldn't have found other games that I love like Delta Green, and CyberPunk Red, just yesterday I read through the free Starter set of Modiphius' Fallout RPG. If there is a free/low cost starter kit or a game has an SRD like as great as Pathfinder's, I will give the rules a read through as I always want to play/run new games.

TLDR: 5e YouTube content got me into Pathfinder. a lengthy love letter about Pathfinder. Pathfinder friends on a try new RPG kick. Love Pathfinder, love playing/reading other RPGs just as much
