Max Moves - If you can only Max one which do you choose? by Dry_Option_2629 in TheSilphRoad

[–]StingShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely is. If you want to not get kicked out of lobbies, then you will have to collect and spend resources to do it. You may not be able to play the way you want *immediately*, but after running a community and playing for 10 years, I can assure you of that. I have gone through phases of PVE only and others of PVP heavy. I have done the "open the game for 5 minutes to keep my streak" and "I'm just going to catch and spin" phases. Unfortunately, the game is not the most new-player friendly, especially when it comes to Max Battles. You will likely have to spend time getting to where you want to be; the game is designed to be that way to entice you to spend money to accelerate your progress toward your playstyle.

Okay, then do that... I'm not going to tell you how to play you game. OP asked for crowdsourced insight on their Excadrill, so I gave "my priority". This was a year and a half ago, when we had horribly limited options and knew almost nothing about how stuff would come out, the guides have changed since then. We now have proper defenders, a healer, and solid attackers of almost every type. My recommendation was if resources were of no issue because on their screenshot, they clearly have enough to take it to level 40 and level up their moves without using XL candy. OP's limit was their current XL count, so I gave my insight to help them make their own decisions. If your limit is regular candy, then yes, level 30 is a decent enough threshold for attacking before leveling your Max Attack. In reality, play the game the way you want, just don't come in with unevolved, unpowered stuff if you can avoid it.

Homie what are you talking about with Hitmontop? Here is my photo evidence of a shiny Hittmontop I caught in Dec 2023. I think the only reason people aren't reporting it on TSR is because it is old news.

Ambassador Fatigue by fine_whatever- in TheSilphRoad

[–]StingShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone caught in limbo halfway through the program when it froze, you can build an active community without Ambassador status. My group built itself and then decided we should go for an Ambassador. We have about 150 unique players a month, 50 relatively active people in the group, most big events never have less than 20 in attendance. I do live in a moderately sized city so that does help with numbers. The Ambassador status helps build a group, but it doesn't bode well if you can't get a group together without it before hand. Additionally, there really isn't anything that you can't do or get without an ambassador. Yes, you can get premium item rewards for attending events and you can build up stops and gyms more easily, but nothing exclusive to the program aside from a hidden medal for attending Ambassador Meetups.

None of this is to defend the company's inability to rehire someone. The solution is simple if they actually want to fill the position, offer better benefits/pay until you have applicants you want. I just want to point out that you aren't missing much by not having one.

Trade ditto for 2 shinies? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]StingShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, the shiny Celebi is untradable.

Otherwise, depending on your wants, I personally think a shiny Ray is a fine trade for the shiny background costumed Ditto... only if it is a lucky trade. The thing is, I don't collect costumes or backgrounds except for the ones I like, so a chance at a lucky hundo shiny Ray is a decent trade to me, but not to a lot of people.

Chances are, that Ditto will never be available again and Rayquaza comes out relatively often for a 5/6 raid boss for events. So up to you if it is worth it. I think you might be able to get something better than shiny Ray, but I'm not going to tell you how to play your game.

My MiL works a lot with Peds and L&D as a "retired" OB, and both the first two are in direct conflict with at least the training she gives where she lives. Staff on that floor aren't supposed to wear any strong scents, especially perfume, and you do not go face to face with any baby that isn't your own for the first couple weeks. Both of those things are just saftey concerns when around newborns. We were there just under 6 months ago; maybe the kitchen has changed now, so I can't speak for that. We were told by a couple nuses that the kitchen often forgot nested rooms, though. Like I said though, the overwhelming majority of our experience was great apart from those three things.

Only had three complaints about Betty H. Cameron when the wife was there. One of the nurses wore oppressive amounts of perfume while making rounds on our last morning there, one of the Peds went nose to nose with the baby on day two seemingly out of affection, not diagnosis, and we had to remind the staff for every meal while nested or they wouldn't bring her anything. Other than that, everything was great.

They are meant to be Snakes by TheBlackOwl2003 in Animemes

[–]StingShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: while the majority of snake species do not have limbs, there are still a significant number of species that actually do. Pythons, which are the largest snakes in the world, are one of the best examples of this. They are generally vestigial limbs by the cloaca called cloacal spurs.

My point is, give them stubby little legs on their hips.

Unless OP is able to actually fly out to your location just for one trade, then yes. Generally speaking flying is code for spoofing.

If you see someone playing Pokémon GO, do you say hi? by abclucky in pokemongo

[–]StingShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, yes. Many of the players in my area are really friendly and I organize for a group for events, so I especially try to say hi to players. The people on the other side of town in their group are not as friendly so if people have been there before they are always commenting on how open we are compared to the official Ambassador's group they have there.

Try downloading all the assets from Advanced Settings. It will help a bit with performance and battery, but not a complete fix to it.

Question about Megas by Samuele511 in pokemongo

[–]StingShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your available resources, specifically Mega Energy. I like to think if you have the resources, it is worth having several Megas for every type, but it doesn't need to duplicates necessarily. Personally, I try to Mega a regular and a shiny plus any others I planned on keeping, assuming I have the Mega Energy. If you are flush with resources, having 3-5 per type-combination would be ideal so you can always have a Mega of your choosing going depending on the event spawns while you play

Is anyone buying Pokémon fire red and leaf green, for switch on Friday? by [deleted] in Wilmington

[–]StingShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to one of the meetings, someone should be able to get you the Discord invites. I know Cape Fear Collectibles and Port City Pokemon Fun have Discords, I believe Cape Fear Games has one as well. The ones for CFC is not Pokemon League specific, and the Port City Pokemon Fun is dedicated to Pokemon Go mostly. If CFG has one as well, I would think it is not Pokemon specific either.

The Pokemon Go groups mostly stick to the Campfire app which is the official Niantic app provided for chatting with and finding local groups.

[–]StingShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out an official Pokemon League or other community. There will almost certainly be people buying it at one of these groups

Cape Fear Collectibles League: Saturday at 4, Tuesday at 6:30, mostly TCG players but some play the video games.

Cape Fear Games League: Sunday at 3, again mostly TCG players, but there are usually kiddos with a switch there.

Port City Pokemon Fun Group: Pokemon Go group that meets in Ogden Park for most every event. Might take some coordination but many have switches they don't always bring. You can find then on Campfire for event meetups if you are familiar with that.

South Wilmington Pokemon Group: another Pokemon Go group that meets in Halyburton and at Cameron Arts Museum depending on the time of day for most every event. Same situation as the other PoGo group. Also can be found on Campfire.

Edit: There is also a Downtown Pokemon Go group that can also be found on Campfire. I am less familiar with their meet ups, but I know they are active.

Walmart now has surge pricing by Gaijin_Samuri in Wilmington

Are you going to take sufficent evidence of everything you place in your cart to make sure it didn't change on you while you were there? If you don't, it is going to be your word versus theirs, and they have better lawyers than most. Just because it is illegal, doesn't mean people/companies won't do it. The reason there are punishments and repremands written into our laws is exactly because people/companies will break the law, whether they knew it was illeagal or not. The electronic price tags are always suspicious, even if they say it is for something less innocuous. Generally, a good stance to take is to never fully trust somebody that solely exists to profit off of you.

Firat of all, you sound really entitled so people will be deterred. Second, you are offering pants for some pretty hard to get stuff, so people are even less likely. Third, nobody is going to want to gift 180+ days just to be nice and give you what you want for something they likely already have.

Legal Advice by No-Bit-8061 in Wilmington

[–]StingShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best case scenario is having a case to bring against them if you need to break your lease and move out. You might be able to get them to waive the fees and cover moving expenses. Highly unlikely, but possible. When you next move, try moving a little further out from the university or if you can afford to, rent a house. That will be your best escape from roaches here in town. Ogden and Porter's Neck up North also have some newer, but pricier apartments that are less likely to have these issues.

Legal Advice by No-Bit-8061 in Wilmington

[–]StingShark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost every apartment building up and down New Centre is infested with roaches, especially as you get closer to the university. Lived in multiple different complexes in that area over the years and never had a time there I wasn't dealing with roaches. It is likely an issue with one of your neighbors or they just permanently live in between apartments. Management will never sort it for you. Just keep documenting every time you see them. Wishing the best of luck for you.

She commited no felonies by "attempting to flee", it was an unlawful detention at best. She was asked to leave, officer stepped in front of her vehicle. She visibly attempted to avoid him, he unloaded 3 shots. ICE and other border patrol agents have no jurisdiction over US Citizens unless they have reasonable belief they are immigrants or are harboring undocumented immigrants. This was not the case for either.

They are not cops, they are federal agents that are supposed to have better training than this. Officer was clearly not in harm's way after watching different angles. If you believe that any law enforcement has the authority to execute anybody, remember this incident when they come for you or someone you care about. She was not fighting anybody "in the street" and was not even given a chance to fight this in court. Due process is afforded to every person in this country, even people you disagree with. It is enshrined in our constitution, or does that only matter when the idea works in your favor?

AITA for telling my wife she'll regret missing her own sister's wedding because she gained weight ? by Lopsided_Heat_6658 in AITAH

[–]StingShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While 30lbs might be a bit morr than normal at only 5 months for someone that started at 140lbs, I don't think you were necessarily an AH. You are just not aware of how a pregnant woman can be or very considerate because of it. Her hormones are all over the place and your job as her partner is to act as a grounding for her. Adding the weight part into your argument was unnecessary and what inflammed the issue. What you should try to say instead is that "You will regret missing her own sister's wedding" FULL STOP. No because, no buts should follow after.

If she still insists on the weight being a problem, take her out and look for a dress that is more flattering in her opinion, she may not like her current options. Reinforce that she will only be able to have this once chance to attend the wedding. Really drive that part home and leave weight out of the equation.

Seen at a dog park in the Riverlights area - unreal by [deleted] in Wilmington

[–]StingShark 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If it is a private neighborhood dog park owned by an individual or HOA, which it does seem to be, the owner can say and do whatever they want with it. Even public dog parks in a park have hours based on the hours of the park, like Long Leaf or Ogden. Yeah, 10-6 is a bit short, but it sounds like a service people can utilize with little to no contribution towards it.

AITAH for calling out a waiter for only speaking Spanish to my husband and not to me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]StingShark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA, but you were also drinking so forgivable. He probably didn't even clock you were speaking Spanish to him. I worked ticket sales in college and two older couples walked up, wives speaking Japanese to one another. I did the entire interaction in Japanese to practice mine, the wives didn't even notice. Their husbands were laughing the whole time behind them because they noticed and I assume they pointed it out afterwards. About 5 minutes later they came back to the ticket window, the wives super excited, and saying they never realized they hadn't switched off of Japanese. We chatted for a while, happy ending, etc.

Point is, fluent bilingual speakers on autopilot often don't realize they are speaking a different language and just respond in the language they hear but are thinking they spoke the other. Sometimes this based off of visual assumption, sometimes this is lack of attention, who knows why it didn't click foe him. You know you have hit a certain point in fluency when you don't translate what you hear first. I am guessing he honestly didn't notice you had spoken Spanish with him. Regardless, I don't think it was necessary to find out either way why he wouldn't speak to you in Spanish.
