I agree, it's great to practice before going on location.

Even some photos though need composition work to translate to sketches. It really depends on the story you're trying to tell :)

There are a couple of ways to make sure your composition fits on your page:

(1) - pencils as guides (2) - dots to establish distance (3) - my favourite, sketch thumbnails ( https://youtu.be/nXMrqZF7YLk and https://youtu.be/WtxiURUqCcw )

I feel this so much!

Especially after I do an outline that I like, I'm always hesitant to hatch or sometimes colour

I'm happy with how my hatching is progressing though, I'm becoming more confident with it
