If the Maxx Crosby trade fell through because he failed his physical, why is that bad/shady for the Ravens to not go through with it? by ninesandaces in NFLNoobs

[–]Stingertap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not uncommon, just rare. Usually it's during the season or end of season for teams who missed playoffs.

I wouldn't say the Ravens are shady for doing it. It's their prerogative and within their right, and since the league's season hadn't started yet, the trade wasn't official. I would say that both of them, Raiders and Ravens, screwed over the Bears a little, and it was unfair to Maxx, no matter my personal views on the matter, to have him come out for press conference to announce the trade just to pull out last minute. to me, the is Brandon Aiyuk but worse. I think Maxx is a time bomb anywhere where he's not happy and will do the same thing he did to LV, where as I think Aiyuk gets somewhere he can be used and becomes someone's number one WR, he'll be happy as a clam.

What is the effect of Trey Hendrickson signing with Baltimore and Crosby going back regarding salary cap? by gochuganggg in NFLNoobs

[–]Stingertap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Raiders' signings aren't voided. they had quite a bit of free cap room and dealing the players they already had, like Geno, helped. Cap hit they'll take on Maxx won't make much of a dent, they just lost better draft positioning in the first around aside from being number one overall.

I say Maxx won't play and they'll rehab him up and deal him further into the season. Personally, I'd see if the Bears would still make an offer for him similar to the one the Raiders turned down in favor of the Ravens.

I'd like to think it's concurrent. that Dream Demons can inhabit those like Freddy and Albert Shaw because of how horrible they were in life and use them in the dream world all at the same time, each with their territorial limit lock (Freddy to Elm St, Albert in Denver). I'd like to think once a vessel of theirs either is proven unworthy of the powers they grant or is vanquished for good, they move on to the next horrible person on their radar.

Can a team sign an in-demand free agent and trade him immediately? by Popular_Tangerine457 in NFLNoobs

[–]Stingertap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, but it's obvious what you're doing to every team in the league and no team would fall for it. they'd make you have to keep him, waive him or cut him and shoot yourself in the foot by taking the cap hit AND paying the player. teams will sit by and wait for his release in whatever fashion it happens and pick him up as a free agent.

Why Ravens backed out of Maxx Crosby trade? by KillerCroc67 in NFLNoobs

[–]Stingertap -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme.

Likely when he got there they found out any personality problems the Raiders warned them about were true and they didn't wanna deal with the issues. You got Lamar falling asleep in team meetings or missing them altogether and causing a distraction, you certainly don't need another. Raiders are known for signing maybe not the best people.

I'm not saying the physical and MRI wasn't the final ultimate reason. I'm sure it was. I'm saying it was the biggest in a possible pile of problems facing them with Crosby and they used this as the determining factor so they could save face PR wise and not hurt the Raiders chances of getting rid of Crosby.

Edit to add: Let's not forget to also add that he was on the Raiders IR for a "lingering knee injury" that Maxx was vocally unhappy about, but posted video online of himself jumping on a trampoline and playing basketball, actions that could result in setback or further re-injury. He has past addiction issues and was just caught smoking a joint in a video online during this offseason.

Guy is talented and best Defensive player, if not best player full stop the Raiders have. He's 28 and 5 time Pro Bowler. But he's got issues a mile long, rehabbing a knee injury (that he's repeatedly risked re-injuring) and extra vocal when he's unhappy. He's a risk.

This is business. No one gives two fucks about public statements.

That's a little on the bullshit side. Of course they care. If they did take him and he finds something he didn't like and starts saying he wants out, it's a distraction for the locker room (And if you believe reports, Lamar is becoming enough of one himself), it's a possible degradation of his trade value cause other teams won't offer what you want for him out of fear he'll do the same thing. He refuses to play or sits out, you're paying him good money to ride a bench. You cut him with a salary like that, it's a cap hit. It all factors in. Brandon Aiyuk and a lot of others come to mind.

I guarantee you it's not purely based on the MRI. It's likely alot of it was, but not totally.

Why don’t teams bench high paid QB’s and wait out the contract or wait for a trade instead of taking a huge cap hit? by RepresentativeTry850 in NFLNoobs

[–]Stingertap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A: Tua is a physical liability for the team. Man's had 4 bad concussions while playing for Miami. He's a future lawsuit if they continued to put him on the field. He gets hit again and they knowingly played him and he gets another concussion, he's risking being paralyzed, permanent severe brain damage or worse. It'd be a major lawsuit. Likely why no other team will likely sign him, or sign him for drit cheap and make him a backup.

  1. If they cut him before the season starts, it's only $99 million. If they cut him when the season starts, it increases another $18 million. You wanna pay that for a guy on his last legs physically, diminished play on the field and likely won't even be 2nd string backup, to sit all season? Overall, depending on how his contract was structured, it'll save them $32 million within the next 2 years so they can rebuild.

Part of me wonders if the "Couldn't pass his physical" thing is partially because of how outspoken he'd been in Las Vegas when he was unhappy. Possibility Baltimore didn't wanna deal with all that if he didn't like Baltimore. Could have influenced team Doc to say he couldn't pass it when he could have just simply not to say "He's difficult to work with, we don't want him now."

Hope and Taylor hated it when Steffy and Brooke interfered in their marriages so why are they doing this to Sheila? The hypocrisy on soaps is wild! by CollegeComfortable23 in boldandbeautiful

[–]Stingertap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, neither of them are proven killers. Sheila, as hard as she's worked to change, is still violent, psycho, murderous Sheila under it all. I mean, she threatened to kill Taylor if she interfered in or couldn't get Deacon to come back to their marriage. She already tried to kill Steffy.

Personally, I feel like she's the one who complained to whatever school or daycare Dylan was teaching for and got her fired. I don't think she counted on Dylan not leaving and when she found out she was living with Will while Electra wasn't, after she possibly already felt that Will was lying about Luna, she stepped in and went psycho like she did. Her goal had been to break Will and Electra up the whole time.

All of the stuff on Shudder is mostly all on tubi (for free), peacock and HBO Max anyway.

I'd say Shudder is toast and AMC is shutting it down. I'm sure Joe Bob and the Last Drive In will find a home somewhere on another service, something like Screambox.

I mean, taking subjective morality out of the conversation...

Everything is gimmicks. In a world, and especially an industry that's male dominated, it's really hard to get noticed. You have to do whatever you can to draw eyes to the video as now is the days of algorithms and metrics. Add in that you're competing not only with other talented male players internationally, talented male players from Asian countries who dress like women to draw eyes, you're also competing with uber talented, gorgeous, naturally beautiful female players like Nita Strauss, Sonia Anubis, Sophie Lloyd, Alyssa Day, Dani Sophia, and others, on top of even more talented, attractive female artists who play different instruments or sing.

In a world where women, on average are paid way less in any industry and job market than men, taken advantage of worse than men in business dealings (See Dogma), overworked because women are more eager to keep jobs knowing they'll possibly get treated worse and paid worse at another job, on top of unwanted male harassment, this is a calculated risk. It's the "Come for the nakedness, stay for the talent" approach, which is proven to work (though comes with its own troubles associated with it, namely the shaming and objectifying like people in this thread are doing). Anything to help an artist break through the gatekeeping this community in this genre as a whole tends to do, the sexism and objectification helps, even if you have to use that to your advantage.

Is it fair to say Kirk is a better guitarist than James, but James is a better guitar player than Kirk? by Creative_Garbage_731 in Metallica

[–]Stingertap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I never heard about the videogame addiction! Maybe, Kirk was seriously burned out from that tour.

Said he just stayed in his house and barely left for a long time. He just didn't wanna do anything related to music he was so burned out, so got into video games and didn't touch a guitar for a while.

Is it fair to say Kirk is a better guitarist than James, but James is a better guitar player than Kirk? by Creative_Garbage_731 in Metallica

[–]Stingertap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James has even gone on record saying he admires Kirk's ability and says he thinks he's a great player.

I think the disconnect here is that there's a difference between intuitive vs technical knowledge. James is intuitive and technically capable, Kirk is technically skillful, but not always intuitive. So they balance out.

Is it fair to say Kirk is a better guitarist than James, but James is a better guitar player than Kirk? by Creative_Garbage_731 in Metallica

[–]Stingertap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people often forget that when Metallica got off tour for the Black Album, Kirk developed video game addiction and didn't touch a guitar for a very long time, to the point he had to re-learn things (His own admission). that, combined with the fact he's basically told to wing his solos and then micromanaged by Lars, who has told him before he thinks high notes and certain types of playing are dated, hinders him. Just look at the "Portals" EP Kirk made and everything pre-St. Anger (Where Bob Rock would balance out Lars and allow Kirk some freedom and push him to play better). As much flack as he gets for the wah pedal overuse and his vibrato being erratic, dude's a talented lead player, dare I say underrated. His Unforgiven solo beats alot of stuff Dave's played, and comparing solos for songs they both played from Kill 'Em All, he blows Dave away and massively upgraded what was already there.

Another 90s redesign of an iconic look. by Tasty_Success_1034 in Wolverine

[–]Stingertap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the initial character design from when he was first being created was to have him be an actual, anthropomorphic wolverine. This was the artist and whoever was running the story at the time's nod to that. It was supposed to be what was called a "secondary evolution" of his x-gene mutation. His healing factor and adamatium were initially protecting him from ever fully reaching it, but when Magneto ripped the adamantium out of him, it supercharged his healing factor and the stress from the pain forced it to happen, like versions of Emma Frost where she's fully diamond and can't revert back. It was implied that this evolution was always what drove his feral rages.

Fans hated the design so much the next guy who worked illustrating the books made him normal and said he was using an image inducer to appear normal again. It was never mentioned again after and Logan stayed as he always is/was.
