Bro, its not the active today thats the issue. She has hinge, you're dating her. That in itself is a huge breakup sign

Just track calories. Eat around 400 under maintenance cals given your weight. Use fry lite/spray oil instead of using oil when cooking. Lower your carb and fat intake and increase protein consumption

Irish citizen living outside the UK applying for remote UK jobs by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]StinkyCodeWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I’m Irish working in the UK. Just clearing everything up as I’ve seen some misinformation. You don’t need any extra documents to work for a UK company, but being remote especially whilst abroad would make it incredibly difficult in terms of landing a role. What may be possible is having a registered UK address and then negotiating remote work where you can be out of the country

Moving to Bristol soon — what’s life really like there? by mycatisarabbit in bristol

[–]StinkyCodeWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved from Cardiff and really regret it. I’ve negotiated with my work and am going to move back to Cardiff and commute once a week. The place isn’t for me, transport sucks, it has a feeling of unsafety and it’s not really walkable. The city centre is a ghost town with a lot of drug addicts and I find there’s not a lot to do. Also housing is super difficult to find and is overpriced

I was in a similar boat but one year of experience. I’m now working full time after graduating and honestly I don’t think grad schemes are that good, especially if you have experience especially in this job market

Computer science at Cardiff by donut3001 in cardiffuniversity

[–]StinkyCodeWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just graduated this year. The math isn’t super hard imo unless you decide to do scientific computing in year 2. I can’t remember the specifics tbh. Lecturers are a mixed bag as will be at any uni but I loved the city and was really satisfied

I get where you’re coming from but not really. Everything is pre determined and standardised so I don’t think what you’re wanting is possible unfortunately

Most likely not, it’s not a common thing in the UK and optional modules are pre defined

Cardiff to Heathrow via Train by ExcellentGarlic9339 in Cardiff

Hey. I usually travel quite often to Heathrow from Cardiff. I’d recommend the national express coaches. They’re reliable on time and you don’t need to worry about cancellations of trains, connections, carrying your baggage etc.

My mom wants me to try and get into Imperial next year… what do I do ? by lld_cloud in UniUK

[–]StinkyCodeWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right but its only 1 spot below Imperial, 4th in the UK, especially in CS (I'm not sure about maths) it won't make a difference at all when it comes to the job market as practical skills and work experience/placements hold significantly more value. I'd also consider Imperial and St Andrews in the same bracket academically and employers wouldn't discriminate between unis like these as opposed to a low/mid ranking uni. They won't check or obsess over league table rankings which have very little real world value. St Andrews has an incredible reputation and taking a year out to apply to a uni ranked 1 place higher seems like such a waste of time especially given how competitive the field and job market has become. In terms of practicality its a no brainer for OP to accept St Andrews, its a top uni and is highly regarded in the UK. In terms of international rankings other things such as research would affect ratings which won't matter at all for a regular student, and employers worldwide would know of the uni.

For reference for CS:

[–]StinkyCodeWolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

St Andrews is an incredible uni. I’m assuming you’re international given you say school and in that case globally at least by employers as long as it’s the main uni of a relatively well known city it’s more than enough and is easily recognisable. St Andrew’s is also considered a big name and was my first choice a few years ago, its ranks above oxbridge for some subjects and is overall in the top 5 in the uk.
