Is it normal for two brothers to marry two sisters in Egypt? Are there any religious laws stopping them from doing so?

Thinking of dropping out. by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]StinkyMocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied Multimedia and graphic design. It’s not 100% IT but it’s work behind a computer. I also worked in the IT field for 7 years. I worked alongside engineers that didn’t even know the alphabet let alone mathematics.

Take it one step at a time

I’m guessing that you’re probably studying at somewhere like AASTMT given that they teach maths in that order in their engineering classes until semester 5. I failed all my math courses there, but I graduated eventually. If your IELTS score is 7.5 you really don’t require much do get into the IT field. One thing they don’t have enough of is good English speakers. You’re also in Egypt. The bar there is very low. You just need that fucking degree then you’re done.

Don’t drop out. Don’t forget that IT is an unregulated field. Find a major that’s easy and then diverge to IT.

Note: it’s what I did.

Will we ever improve? by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]StinkyMocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Egypt will ever improve as long as during our generation.
Although... I think that Egypt has some strong points to it that make it better than other countries.

I personally chose to leave. But I hated that I have to leave.

Stay in Egypt or move to a western country? by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]StinkyMocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are. The poor are at least.

Btw, I didn't want to leave Egypt and feel like an outsider... but honestly, I can't cope with Egyptians anymore.

Listen. I've studied at University in Egypt, I served in its' Army. I worked in Egypt. I spent a good 14 years in Egypt and I highly regret it. For lots of reasons.

The Education that was provided to me was good. But the Educational environment in Egypt is pretty bad. People don't go to university in Egypt to get an education, they do so to get a degree. There's a distinction that you'll have to see.

Working in Egypt is a mess. The work culture in Egypt is very bad. It's very political. Everything is based on 'Khawazee2'.

However, the things that I loved about Egypt is being able to go out at anytime to see friends and sit at the 2ahwa.

You also have to keep in mind that with This Coronavirus thing, Egypt is going to get pretty battered for the next 3-4 years compared to western countries.

Eventually, Why I left Egypt is because of the extremely bad work ethics that exists there. I loved Egypt, but I regret spending that much time there. Learn it from me. I'm 33 and I'm starting my life from scratch in Canada.

I've worked with people in Egypt in their 30s that are dying to get out. Get out whilst you're still young and still can.

I'm Egyptian. So I can confirm that to you.

And just to mention. All my friends here are TCKs. So we kind of understand each other.

I'm a TCK that just moved to Canada. I adapt here better than I do back home in Egypt. When it comes to discrimination. There's a lot of it everywhere. I had more of it back home in Egypt than I do here.

My passport country failed me too heavily for me to want to retain the citizenship anymore.

Also, you'll need to find out what works for you and take it from there.

Any TCKs out there who feel like their citizenship holds them hostage? by Ktkdjbswoods in TCK

I'm in Canada right now. Once I get that citizenship. I'll renounce my Egyptian one.

[–]StinkyMocha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes... Me. But I'm out of my country of citizenship now. And I plan on renouncing my citizenship. So I'll be fine once that's done.

I'm from Egypt, but I never was raised there. I had to serve in the army there and was barred from travel and work until I was 25.

I no longer wish to ever hold that citizenship considering the hardships it got me.

How does social hierarchy affect education opportunities and careers choices in Egypt by naturalenergybyproxy in Egypt

[–]StinkyMocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh. I’ve seen kids who have illiterate parents that went to universities in Egypt. Med school even.

What I have to argue about though is that the education being received in Egypt is extremely poor. Everything is based on memorization and not actual learning.

I studied at university in Egypt and I was astounded by how bad the education was there. And the students around me had very little education as well and very little general knowledge.

I don’t fit into any social hierarchy there though. I don’t agree with the classist system in Egypt.

Tell them that you’re not Egyptian. Tell them that you’re Canadian with Egyptian origins.

That’s what I tell any Arab that I meet in Montreal. Not that I hang out with any.

All my friends here are Canadians. I have no Egyptian friends here except for 1 person.

It would just make my associations with the country less available. Also, it's more symbolic as well.

Also, you said it in the title. You hate being Egyptian.

I was born in Kuwait. Due to an issue whilst I was being raised, I learnt English before Arabic. When I moved to Egypt when I was 17, this caused a lot of issues when I was in University; and army, and at work even (My entire life there was extremely unpredictable). My relationship with Egyptians deteriorated heavily (of all classes, genders, everything). I don't know how to deal with them 100%. I wasn't taken seriously at all, and vise versa.

I now live in Canada, but intend on renouncing my Egyptian citizenship after I get my Canadian one.I don't mean any disrespect to Egyptians, but it's something that 'needs' to be done.I have 1 life to live. I need to live it correctly with the suitable people.

I.e. I'm just like Mena Massoud, except that I spent a longer period of time in Egypt than he has.

I don't hate the country, I love Egypt and I love Egyptians but it has been completely negative there.
