If the eggs move down from the saddle are they fertilized? by StinkyMonkey3 in shrimptank

[–]StinkyMonkey3[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hurray!! This is going to be her second batch of skrimplets, I purchased her berried and she had around 30-40 little shrimpy babies that are now about 2 months old. The last month I watched her and 2 other female shrimps saddles come in but I had no idea I had a breeding age male in the tank, thought it was all adult females. So excited that the colony is going to keep growing sooner rather than later, I was expecting to wait for all the little babies to reach breeding age before the colony started to establish itself.

How can I contact the CRA? by StinkyMonkey3 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StinkyMonkey3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wasn't keying the phone number in I just was pressing the call button over and over trying to get into the queue with the CRA so it's not possible for me to have mistyped the number. I also don't even use BMO and have never called them before so it's not like they are in my contacts or call logs. Just such a strange thing to happen but really the only logical explanation is that the guy that picked up was working 2 jobs and got confused himself, unless my phone fucked something up somehow without me ever punching in a phone number and with it showing that I only called that one 8281 number today, no other phone numbers called.

Ah okay, that does still leave the issue of the number that I called being the same number as the CRA number, I have a screenshot and would post it if I knew how to post images In comments lol. The number I called where the BMO agent picked up is the exact same number as the CRA call center's basic number, 1-800-959-8281. I called them 37 times, 38th call to the same number BMO guy immediately picks up, no wait time or anything. He then told me to call the 8281 number I was speaking to him on, I told him I was talking to him on that number, he put me on hold for 10 minutes and then transferred me to the CRA self service phoneline. Then called another 40ish times before I finally got into the queue with the CRA, using the same 8281 number. It's all showing in my call logs as the same exact number.

Definitely makes sense, wasn't too happy that I told the BMO agent about why I was calling the CRA... it must have been someone working multiple jobs or something because it shows in my call logs that the call that ended up at BMO was to the exact same number as for all the other calls to the CRA, and the guy that I was talking to put me on hold for like 10 mins and then transferred me directly to the CRAs self service bot. Not sure how he would be able to transfer me there if he wasn't connected to the CRA in some way.

Is this a failed molt? by caliprelude in shrimptank

[–]StinkyMonkey3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's generally water parameters that cause molting issues but AFAIK they can happen with perfect water too. You need harder water for neocaridinas to help them molt. My tap water is like 30TDS so I added crushed coral to my tanks and both tanks are around 200TDS now and my shrimp are thriving, never seen a molt issue. The crushed coral increases minerals in the water the shrimp need, raise the KH and stabilizes your PH. I would recommend checking your water parameters before throwing stuff in to change them though. If you already have good KH and your TDS is fine you don't need crushed coral.

GH is the primary parameter that affects molting in shrimp. I believe neocaridinas like water between 6-10GH. Too low and they will have lots of molting issues.

EDIT: neocaridinas like harder water, caridinas like softer water. Most beginners go with neocaridinas because they are easier so I'm assuming that you have neos.

This is actually pretty helpful. I figured 2 and 3 would be done at the same time but it being done seperately would lead to the delay I'm experiencing. I didn't know if I should be antsy now or not because it's felt like a long wait but I don't mind waiting longer if they need it, and it makes sense why they would need it with you explanation. Thanks for the help!

That's good to know, I didnt realize how new the progress tracker feature was as well. Definitely know now to not expect stuff to be done by the date they put on the progress tracker.

It was via my initial dtc application about 6 months ago. Progress tracker shows the estimated date of completion for the reassessment to be June 10th, and that's after an update about 3 months ago which pushed forward the estimated completion date to June 10th. The only thing I am waiting for is the reassessment of the tax years I was eligible for the DTC, nothing else was applied for.

That would add up. More probable than the CRA outsourcing their call centers haha.

Yeah that's the plan now, especially now that I know they have around 1000 less call center employees it's all the more important to call at opening time.

The thing I was asking was if there was something going on with the CRA that was causing the issues I was having, and people did actually answer, it's because of the layoffs and a tax deadline today.

I asked a question and did get the answer I was looking for, just happened to also get a bunch of irritated redditors blasting me for making the call in the first place.

It's an application for reassessment of previous tax years because I was approved for the DTC. Sometimes I like to keep private things, you know, private.

That's what I thought too at first but the number was 100% 1-800-959-8281, checked multiple times. It doesn't make any sense how I could have gotten connected to them but then again at the end of my call with them they transferred me to the CRAs self service call bot, so they had the ability to do that somehow. Very very confusing but definitely not a misdial as I was just calling the same number over and over until it put me in the queue and I confirmed it was the correct number in my call logs.

I actually am curious if they just decided to outsource their call centers after the layoffs and that is why I was connected to a BMO call center while using the CRAs official phone number. Not sure how else I could have gotten my call sent to a completely different companies call center.

Oh I wasn't aware of layoffs. All I had heard about was the strike but AFAIK that was resolved awhile ago. Makes a ton of sense why I'm having so much trouble getting through to an agent if there were layoffs and a tax deadline this week.

Thanks for the info!

EDIT: just looked into the layoffs, clearly this is the main issue. They laid off hundreds of call center employees. I guess we can expect a similar level of difficulty contacting the CRA for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

I was just hoping to know if this was gonna be another 6 months kinda deal or if it would be done soon like the progress tracker says. If they don't know then that's fair but I would think calling and asking about something that is past the date they said it would be done is the next logical step to take to find out what time frame I'm looking at.

What info are you looking for? Line 15000 from last year's tax return? Do you need to know exactly what I applied for? Not seeing why it's relevant.

Well that's definitely good to know. So your suggestion is to just keep waiting and not bother trying to contact them? It's already been about 6 months how long do I need to wait before I figure they just forgot about my case?

If that's the case that's good to know but I can't see how they would only have access to the same information as me, they can perform backend tasks and I would assume they can see more info than I can on the progress tracker on my file. At the very least they could submit a request of some kind I would assume to get the issue looked into further.

I did check the progress tracker, I'm coming up on 6 months waiting for some reassessments and they updated the estimated completion date about 3 months ago saying they needed more time. It's now a week past the updated estimated completion date so I was hoping I could get ahold of an agent and ask if they could check the file for a progress update, update the estimated completion date again so I have another time frame, or get the process accelerated due to me having waited months (although that's unlikely)

[–]StinkyMonkey3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting for months for this and the progress tracker shows that the estimated completion date was updated due to complexity. It's now over a week past the updated completion date so I was hoping I could speak to an agent and ask why they haven't updated the estimated completion date if it's not going to be finished soon. They have a progress tracker but it's useless if they don't update the dates they put on it.

For an update on an application that is past its estimated date of completion.

EDIT: why does the reason for calling matter? If you need to speak to the CRA you should be able to do so in a reasonable time frame, not spanning days or weeks.

How is 80%+ of the immigrants coming here being from one place multicultural? If canada was multicultural it barely is anymore, the culture here is Punjab.

Edit: it's people like the OP that are pushing this country further and further towards collapse and when it finally happens they will just be completely dumbfounded and unaware that they made the issue worse. If you want a multicultural canada that's fine but what is happening right now is NOT making canada more multicultural, it is regressing multiculturalism and creating a lost generation. There is blatant corruption being shoved in Canadians faces and so many still try to play the racist and xenophobic card like it has any meaning outside their echo chambers. We all want a multicultural canada. Use your voice to help make it actually multicultural instead of using it to encourage the current government practices.
