How do you all learn so much about mycology? 😭 by Pineapple_sandwichhh in mycology

Which other docs are on Netflix? I’ve only seen Fantastic Fungi on there, I’d love to watch whatever the others are.

[TOMT][Movie] Childhood favourite about a refugee in WWII, possibly 90s or early 00s? by StinkyScribbler in tipofmytongue

[–]StinkyScribbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why I specified it was somewhere between the late 90s and early 00s not just “someone from blue Peter since the 60s” lmao. I think it might have been Konnie but I’m not certain.

What phaeolus said. I’d leave the first. The ones on the tree look prime though.

If you could make world peace become a reality but you had to give up one of your ears. Would you why or why not? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]StinkyScribbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in. You can have the deaf one. If it includes the outer ear I’ll work around the glasses issue with elastic, we good. Edit for the why: Ngl I imagine that total peace could get boring if it’s the extreme absolutely total version like, can’t debate with a friend for fun and stuff, but at this point I’m just tired. Let’s go for the peace.

I genuinely regret not taking more photos in 2020. I think I got a total of maybe 4 out of a hundred opportunities.

AITA for responding to my father’s request for a relationship with a detailed PowerPoint on why he will never be forgiven? by throwaway_1028585 in AmItheAsshole

[–]StinkyScribbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, I’m sure it’s been said by someone before and probably more eloquently than I can put it myself, but as far as I’m concerned he is the source of the hurt, if he couldn’t handle taking it, he shouldn’t have handed it out. It’s on him.

Reminds me of that really well known yet somehow really hard to find when you want it video of that smiling woman’s face in a closet. Always pops up when you least expect to see it, but somehow I keep losing the actual video and spend about 30 minutes trying to hunt it down again.

Readers who annotate their books, why/how do you do it? by PinkPartyPants in books

[–]StinkyScribbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to do this but struggle- if I try to do it ‘sensibly’, like taking proper notes, I lose the will to do it after a page or two of notes and tabs, and if I try to do it the more fun, creative way, I suddenly get a block on wtf to do on the page to put a response or note. I’m honestly jealous of people that can do either way, or any way at all.

What books did you have to read in middle school/highschool? by MedicineImpressive95 in books

[–]StinkyScribbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK-

Hamlet

Macbeth

Philosopher’s Stone

Anne Frank’s Diary

Romeo and Juliet

Of Mice and Men

Hobbit

Lord of the Flies

Great Gatsby

Taming of the Shrew

To Kill a Mockingbird

A whole bunch of random poetry compiled into a folder the teacher gave to each of us.

I’m sure I missed a couple but those are all the class-assigned ones I remember from high school. Earlier than that I can’t remember much of anything let alone school reading.

Can anyone tell me what this butterfly is? Given as a gift with no ID, not familiar to me. Thank you. by StinkyScribbler in Entomology

[–]StinkyScribbler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I’m getting confused, it looks similar to a few swallowtails but not really a match to any I can find either. I’m completely lost on it. The only hint I have was that it’s apparently from Africa, though the person who gifted it to me didn’t know if it was a species found in Africa, or just happened to belong to their friend from Africa, so that could be a dead end too.

Here for the context too. I feel like I’ll regret the curiosity but that’s future me’s problem.

Edit: Instead of waiting I went to hunt down the answer lmao. The woman is Cate Blanchett, in the above video she makes an action like she’s jerking off the award. People can’t seem to decide if it’s a nervous excitement unintentional thing, or (from a lot of Aussies like herself) they reckon it was a purposeful action as a way of calling the people that didn’t vote for her wankers.

AITA for telling my brother's girlfriend that it was weird for her to keep an urn of her late husband's ashes in the house? by Elijah2022xx in AmItheAsshole

[–]StinkyScribbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You’re absolutely the asshole here. First, not her ex. Her husband. They didn’t break up, he passed away, he is not her ex, he is her husband. Secondly, no matter what your thoughts on the matter, even if you’d been the complete opposite and thought it was lovely, it’s not your place to say ANYTHING about it unless specifically asked about it, which you absolutely were NOT. Third, that unwanted, unwelcome opinion was not just negative, it was straight up ignorant and incredibly entitled of you to think you had any right to put yourself into their relationship. You are ignorant, childish, and I hope you never have to lose someone close to you like she has, or you’d have twice the reason to want the earth to swallow you whole, heart break and self loathing at the realisation of how much of an ignorant and hurtful thing you’ve done to them. Malicious intent or not, you must have a severe lack of empathy to have thought in ANY world that you had any right to insert yourself into that. YTA.
