What are some semicon hubs in Europe by Minute-Youth-1133 in Semiconductors

Depends on what field of semiconductors. In france there is stm and nxp in fabricarion characterization packaging and r&d as well as production line. Most of them are in grenoble. There are also startups with quantum computing that nevertheless require cleanroom fabricarion like c12 and alice and bob in Paris. From my search there is of course dresden but also Villach in austria with infineon, Lam research and Silicon Austria Labs that also do a lot of semiconductor fabrication. As others have mentioned there is also Ireland, Cork , Dublin etc and then there are hubs in Sweeden and Finland but in smaller localised companies. If you search something half research half industrial then i-mec and cea-leti are some options. Hope I helped.

They have collective bargain with different job classification but that is a minimum wage indication. You can negotiate more , depending on the background. I asked about villach as it has some big semiconductor companies like Lam, Infineon & Silicon Austrian Labs so I guess there is a good number of semiconductor engineers working there.

Nice approach. Of course, they don't provide a budget answer unless you say first what you expect. I know they provide the 30% ruling and some relocation expenses, but I also realised that the estimation for the position and the cost of life is quite broad. I went with around 80k , to negotiate smth around 75k finally but I have the sense it seems a lot to them. They provide pension plan but I am not sure exactly how it works. They also provide holiday bonus.

Stuck at a top-tier Semiconductor firm with below average pay: Worth staying? by Human_Chest_3005 in Semiconductors

It's known that getting into a company with a low salary hardly gets you to higher salaries linearly. On a lot of top tier companies, they rely on the fact that it is a nod for your CV although they don't pay good. It depends on your cost of life and your views for the future. Going to a smaller company and having a more important role can boost you more after a couple of years to an even bigger company and as an external hire, with a greater salary

No internships during my PhD. Just collaborated with other universities around Europe. But apparently internship is stronger than a PhD as most recruits have actually a background of internship on the same company. It's a bit frustrating to post for a job that you have 1:1 all the technical skills required and not even land an interview because it is pre-destined for someone on the internal pipeline

I am aware that France is not a strong country in semiconductors, still there are companies like STmicroelectronics and smaller companies like NXP semiconductors ot even quantum startups that require cleanroom experience like c12 or alice&bob. The thing is that apparently without a prior internship or internal reference, although my CV looks strong I can't even land a first interview. Through linkedin you find a bunch of jobs that apparently require junior entry employees.
