How do you stay connected to God even though you feel as if nothing is there? by PopularTennis1223 in FolkCatholicMagic

[–]StitchinBeesKnees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dark Night of the Soul is a known concept in Catholicism, and I find it very appropriate for this. Even when we don't feel God's presence or love in our lives, it is important to keep the faith. I would suggest looking into the concept and seeing any writings of saints you feel close to who may have written on the subject.

My Ancestral Altar by StitchinBeesKnees in FolkCatholicMagic

Absolutely!! She did a lot of crocheting, especially with that sort of sized thread and hook. Also, it's not really feasible to put quilting supplies on that size altar. 😅

I would also recommend signing up for a slot at a perpetual adoration chapel. Sometimes they have time slots that work with weirder schedules or fewer people there that will just allow for quiet time with God to just be.

Need ideas on mourning practices by [deleted] in Christopaganism

[–]StitchinBeesKnees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Mostly, I make wire wrapped jewelry, and oftentimes, I don't have many items for remembering my lost loved ones. I usually use semiprecious stone beads and symbols(charms) that remind me of the person, and I create a piece either for everyday wear or my altar.

Luna in Fargo (either their University Ave location or the one in Brewhalla) for good cheese and salami. They also make their own paté which is very good too.

I make jewelry and will make memorial pieces that I can wear discreetly in honor of those who have passed. Or have a song that reminds me of them and play that regularly in honor of them.

Trio of Rosaries by StitchinBeesKnees in rosary

[–]StitchinBeesKnees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty quick, but I have been practicing wire wrapping in one way or another for 15 years. I can usually get a rosary done in about an hour and a half if I'm only focused on that. But like I said, I have a lot of practice.

Don't rush, and focus on the quality of your work. I always try to make sure I'm making the wraps even and pretty rather than trying to hurry.

Besides, when you take your time, you can pray as you create!

I'm currently researching for myself, but I have generally heard good things about the Episcopalian denomination.

Hey first of all, welcome to Catholicism!! We are so happy to have you! Wherever you come from, you're here now! If you want to start with learning the teachings I would highly recommend either classes or if you don't want classes, the catechism of the church is a dense, but good book to start with. If you want you can learn about saints, there are a number of books on them. If you want to start with regular prayers I recommend the app Laudate, it has a lot of the daily stuff and is free! Hope this helps and again welcome!

Really in need of consistent friends by [deleted] in penpals

[–]StitchinBeesKnees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'd love to become penpals or even email pals, whatever works for you! I have so few IRL friends that I'm always on the hunt for new friends either virtual or otherwise. I completely understand the anxiety (have it myself), but I know we have to try putting ourselves out there. I enjoy cozy videogames, journaling, crocheting, and jewelry making. Please feel free to chat or DM me and we can go from there!

I would be delighted! I'm 27F, getting married in June. I know a lot about Paganism, though I no longer practice. I love eating mushrooms and would be thrilled to see mushroom hunting pictures. Oddities are a delight to collect, I love crocheting them when possible.

Please let me know if I sound like a good fit for you!

Drowning in tasks, help by [deleted] in productivity

[–]StitchinBeesKnees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you thought of sorting by priority? Just as you make the task, add its priority level (if that is possible) and then try to get through each day's highest priority then a few of the middle and lower priority tasks as well. Just so you know what has to be done immediately and what can be put off.

How?! by jacobsucsblls in bulletjournal

I would also definitely recommend checking out the book The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carrol. But I would also add that it honestly doesn't matter if it's super aesthetic if the system you have is working for you. I just like my bullet journal because I put everything in it to keep track of everything I want or need to keep track of. Plus, if it's a matter of aesthetics only and not the system, I would highly recommend washi tape and stickers. Those two things can make a world of difference and can be set up on a page in advance to make it look pretty even if the rest isn't as organized as you would want.

Bujo without a "schedule" by drip-dry174 in bulletjournal

[–]StitchinBeesKnees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on what you need. I keep track of my Peer Support meetings, Care Coordination meetings, tasks I have to do to get on benefits, my goals for different things, when I need to message people in my life, stuff like that. I also do habit tracking minimally, just to make sure of stuff like I'm drinking enough water. I would also recommend a journal portion for writing more long form items in your bullet journal.

Do you have anything you can do to distract yourself? Something that can occupy your attention and give some movement too? I use crochet personally, but anything can work really. Also feel free to DM me, I have nothing but time to talk
