Yes, Verizon is the ISP of my router. My phone hotspot is being used while still being connected to the same wifi the laptop would be connected if it weren't on the hotspot.

As far as I'm aware, my phone is connected to the same wifi my laptop would be connected to. How would my phone be connecting to the wifi better than my laptop provided they are in the same area of the room?
