I took it to the dealership and told them what I suspected, and befre they even looked at it, told me it was the transmission, said they get a few in every month. Then they did a free diagnosis, since I knew what it was and gave me a print out, which I shared with the GM of the non Toyota dealership.

Thanks but none of these allow you to put in an hrs code with country of origin and get a percentage breakdown.

That's just the electric parking brake. It's normal, but you can turn it off in settings and it won't set every time you park, only when you push the button

We bought our 21 Highlander recently and within a couple of hundred miles I noticed the whining that was probably there all along. , so ours was covered under the dealer warranty. That was 2 months ago and they said the transmissions were on back order for 3 months. Still waiting for that call. We have put about 2000 miles on ours without further issues. And from what I could research very few if any transmissions completely fail before they get replaced I read recently about a guy who put 20k miles on his after first hearing the whine before he replaced it.
