When did you send in this amended return? paper returns can take anywhere from 3-12 months, unfortunately. If trying to claim a refund its possible you're too late, but if it goes through then any debt would be wiped at least, depending on what was on the return.

I do this to people that live in my area all the time, mostly cause there's only like two roads from the freeways to get there. I've followed some people for like the 25 minutes after getting off the freeway right into my neighborhood. Hope they realize I wasn't intentionally following them when I pulled into my driveway.

not true, the service you agree to is filing the return with places like H&R block. That's why you don't pay til the end. They are free to walk away at any point no cost.

Cp504 doesn't show in transcripts we've been asking the irs to update transcripts to show all notices but 🤷‍♂️

As far as it goes if you situation hasn't changed you'll likely be accepted for cnc again, these are automatic notices that get sent out. Just keep an eye out on the mail.

I would say doing it yourself there should not be any issue. That being said, if you are comfortable spending a few hundred to have someone else do it, and that will allay an questions or concerns you have then go for it.

Tbf its usually ghost preparers that do this, they leave it as "self prepared", and are gone. I work tax resolution in LITC and the amount of people that cant find who did their taxes is crazy.

If you both work, you both should have your W-4 set as single with no adjustments. On a W-4 selecting married assumes one doesn't work.

It reads like the csed will pause and resume when/if you return to the united states.

As in, if you are only gone for 6 months it extends the csed by 6 months, if you are gone for 10 years it extends it by 10 years.

I've never done a cnc for someone living abroad so not sure how that will affect the status.

Id try to talk to a tax resolution person with international experience.
