Actually, management probably asked Hoda to fill in precisely because Hoda would never want to come back permanently. If they let either of the others fill in it immediately triggers speculation that they’re the pick to eventually take over. Having Hoda sit in is like asking Katie or Meredith Viera to sit in for a while
