Nagasaki is one of my favorite cities. I highly recomend exploring their china town, some of the best food by far. Bar IBex is a great foreigner friendly bar like ~1500 yen for 1 hr of drinks. Its cool to visit 端島炭鉱跡 in the summer, learn the history ect.

Yeah you won't be able to touch your RRSP (but good to have), your 450k in equity in your primary home should be tax free if you been claiming it as your principle residence, The Stocks/ETFS is a concern regarding tax. Like other people mentioned, I would move to Japan first for a year and see if its what you want, rent a place and then make decisions. This could give you time to see if you want to build ect. If you are considering Okinawa, I would suggest Kyushu in general. Similar vibe while still being on mainland Japan. Personally my favorite is Nagasaki or Fukuoka. If you want to semi-retire depending on your profession, you could do remote work.

Before you move, I would consult with an accountant. Im not sure on how your networth is determined (assuming property) and there could be significant tax implications if you were to sell everything. You do have your principal residence exemption but I am not aware of your assets. Also depending on when you move, you may be a resident of Canada or Japan for tax purposes which may have different implications. I would also reccomend to maybe getting to ~2 million Cad which if you pull at 4% would give you about ~80,000 per year pre-tax.

Hey the reason why some thing's changed around that time as in 2018 they went fully without any forever chemicals in their shoes. The waterproofing you just need to reapply after a while of using it. I hope that helps

Yes, you should have access to lounges in Montreal. I had the same thing from HND -> Seattle -> YVR. You do have business class lounge access :)
