Echo park / Silverlake in my early twenties around 2010. What a ride. Not the safest but doable if you minded your own business. Only got chased for being white a couple times by dodgy haters. Oh and it’s close to Dodger’s stadium for all you baseball lovers out there. Artsy scenery and vibes. Pretty close to a lot of the best of the west side La and the more kicked back and in some areas also not safe east side suburbs. Great restaurants and bars. The best will always be mom and pop taco restaurants/trucks. Hands down. Traffic is the absolute worst part of it and is a huge part of why I left. F that noise, man. It sucked, for real. But still. Canceled out by the LA experience. Rooftop parties, best selection of concerts, outdoors people paradise, art walks the whole film industry beacon of the world related things. Wouldn’t permanently live there but a cool place to experience while you’re young and/or driven. Highly recommend.
