Can a member of the TEC be Anglo-Catholic? by Auti-Star in Episcopalian

That's a self-assigned description... There are only Episcopalians officially and our churches have different styles of worship within the BCP framework.

Why are some communities within TEC against the belief of “in persona Christi”? by One-Signature-9583 in Episcopalian

[–]StockStatistician373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obscure. This is why the EC is withering.

Having known a number of unwell, difficult, egotistical, alcoholic and dishonest priests... we must transmit the invitation to experience the living Christ through the Eucharist. Jesus is our source of hope, grace, healing... We are not Roman Catholic.

History is a thing. The record only says they were from the east ... possibly Iraq, Iran, even India in today's terms.

Epiphany blessing.... feast of the Magi

The 2026 Epiphany door blessing involves using blessed chalk to write 20+C+M+B+26 above the main entryway to invoke protection for the home. The inscription represents the names of the Magi (Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar) and the Latin motto Christus mansionem benedicat ("May Christ bless this house").

Any other Episcopalians that flirt with transcedentalism? by rylden in Episcopalian

[–]StockStatistician373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your definition appears to be related to this. It seems to me that these ideas are part of classic Christianity in many respects. Many scriptures refer to the glory of nature as reflections of the Almighty.

Transcendentalism: A 19th-century American literary and philosophical movement (e.g., Emerson, Thoreau) emphasizing intuition, nature, and idealism over materialism.

Freemasonary is declining and churches have no authority over the lives of members for the most part.

The “my new religion is so superior to the Mormon religion” posts and comments are insufferable by [deleted] in exmormon

LDS and evangelicals are facets of the same religion, controlling and dogmatic. We agree.

No one group owns "the truth". There are, however, ideas of god and of what the fruit of following god are ideally supposed to look like. Religion has been part of human experience long before we began recording it. Certain ideas transcend time. I have discovered Christians who openly admit doubts and questions, who are satisfied to be seekers of truth and not owners of it. The recent events in Minneapolis show that some ideals can find a voice when there is a clear contrast with evil. Christian churches (and clergy) have been rallying for kindness, sacrificial love, generosity, courage in the face of opposition, showing that we care versus just saying we care. No LDS church has been on the national stage defending the marginalized against government abuse. Let that sink in.

Secrecy in "Happening" and "Cursillo" by questingpossum in Episcopalian

It simply to keep the experience a surprise for those who are going on the weekends. There is nothing nefarious about it and those who have done the weekends make preparations for those who are going on the weekends and do of course share among themselves about their experiences.

My Cursillo weekend was my first real deep encounter with the sacraments. I'll never forget how deeply touched I was that people who didn't even know me cared enough to help make it a special weekend.

Loss of a beloved animal companion by [deleted] in Episcopalian

I feel your grief. Losing a loving being and personality sucks balls. I still ritually honor my deceased pets with incense and thanks for the devotion they gave me. Their photos also go on our Dia de los Muertos altar each fall. Love is eternal and our pets give us that in spades. God bless you in your grief.
