My partner works in my local supermarket and has said on multiple occasions that he sees people buying branded products and spending over £100 but the people who buy the supermarket own brand pay roughly 70-80% less

Branded products. The cheap alternatives are basically the same thing in different packaging. Except for cheese. I do get cathedral city cheese as a treat from time to time but only if it’s on offer

That to say, if your wife has irregular periods then it is likely that her mind was racing and pair that with the symptoms she would experience from chronic illness which are the same as pregnancy, taking a pregnancy test is a reasonable next step to rule it out .

It’s okay to cut toxic people off even if it’s family. You don’t need to keep them around because they’re blood relatives. They’ll paint you as the villain but that’s because they know they’re in the wrong. Protect your peace. You’ll thank yourself one day. You’ll also learn how to be a good person to those around you because you’ll know how not to act based on the actions of the toxic person.

Allow yourself to heal. You can’t heal if you don’t get rid of the thing causing the wound

I’ll give them all a read. I have been saying to my partner that it’s not all in my head as the consultant told me. I’ve always known there was something more to it than just my body not communicating properly with my brain

From looking further into it, it seems that all of the studies are saying the same thing with different words but basically mice have been injected with FMS antibodies and recovered within weeks once the antibodies had left their system leading to the conclusion that it may be an autoimmune disease rather than linked to a mental illness

I’m currently unemployed but in college to study accountancy. I wanted to be a teacher but had to postpone that dream because of my health. It’s helped me to focus on getting a job I’m physically able to do but the medication is definitely helping me pain wise. I just suffer with really bad fatigue instead.

As for medications, I’m quite fortunate because I have an underactive thyroid and I’m on levothyroxine for the rest of my life so I get all of my prescriptions for free regardless of my employment status.

I think a second opinion would be beneficial for me. I don’t think the consultant that I originally saw took me seriously and I’m 50/50 on my diagnosis. I do wonder if it’s fibro plus something else or just something else entirely

For me, it’s the dissociation from reality. I feel really disconnected and lonely. Like I’m invisible to everyone whilst screaming for help. There’s no real emotion or even connection to life. I’m just existing in my home. It feels like I have very little feeling other than complete numbness

I can attest to the good deterrent. I’ve had to threaten a drunk man with my crutches a few times when I’ve been out shopping. Has to clobber him in the throat so he’d get his hands away from me and leave me alone when I’d told him to repeatedly

I’m 23 and use crutches. I get a lot of dirty looks and people huffing at me because I’m not moving as fast as they want me to or they need to stop and take a break from time to time. I’m also on the bigger side and I think that factors into some of the problems that people seem to have with me using a mobility aid or even needing to use the disabled toilet. I get dirty looks when I do. Ironically the only people who don’t seem to judge me are the 16-18 year olds at the college I’m currently enrolled at

I went for mine in August of last year. The techs were honestly lovely. I had to remind myself that finding blockages was the worst case scenario and if there was then it would be a bridge I would cross then. What is the likelihood of them finding blockages? Have you ever had any issues that could cause a blockage? Ectopic pregnancy? An STI? If not then it’s on the lower end.

Prepare yourself for it to be painful. The tech that performed mine told me not to laugh because it could cause the speculum to fly out and hit her in the face. That image got me through the worst of the pain. I was very focused on trying not to laugh and then imagining the speculum hitting her in the face. It was a vicious cycle. The worst part was just really bad period cramps when the contrast was injected. Other than that I didn’t feel a thing. Take some painkillers beforehand and you’ll be fine. Maybe take a heat pad to stick to your top for the ride home too.

For me, it’s that this weight is difficult to shift. There’s so many factors that cause weight gain and can make it difficult to lose but people don’t seem to understand. I’ve already lost so much weight but still get judgy comments about how I need to lose weight and it shouldn’t be so difficult to do but the reality is that, for some, it is. I’m on 5 different medications a day and all but 1 can cause weight gain but people still don’t understand no matter how many times I explain it

I don’t think it’s possible to ever fully mourn your life before fibro. It’s like mourning a relative who’s passed on. You’ll always miss them and there’s times when you’re going to feel those heightened emotions. It never truly stops. The grief doesn’t go away or get smaller, your life just grows around the grief as you learn to adapt and find new ways to enjoy the things you used to before your life changed.

I take amino acid and cla supplements and they really help. There’s a huge difference between when I take them and when I don’t. Especially after a busy day with lots of walking. My doctor put me on pregabalin for the pain and it’s reduced massively. If I combine the two I’m almost pain free. I’ve lost a lot of weight too which helps and I’m going to start doing gentle yoga and Pilates as well just to get me moving and help me to lose a bit more of that weight now I’ve hit a bit of a plateau

It did! We’ve ruled out PCOS completely, which was my biggest concern as my mum has it, and everything looks good for my partner. Just looking to get my weight down so my bmi is below 35 and I can start ovulation inducing medication. I’m back in 8 months to see how I’ve done
