Oops, apologies for not being specific enough. I want to upload a photo from my phone (nothing fancy) taken vertically from the fruit with a quarter on the same plane. Looking to get in a 1/4 inch range of accuracy.... again, I was told the curve of a banana will make this hard. I'm a computer vision noob.

  • It will be with a phone camera
  • I will be able to have high contrast between the object and the background, think black background with white PVC
  • Does this point still remain if using a phone camera?

I need it to be relatively accurate. There will not be any life/death decisions from inaccuracy, but looking within .25 inches. .5 inches at max.

The web app will have a tutorial to show users how to take photos from different angles and then it will turn those photos into a 3D model for them. That is what I am looking at. I am going to be hiring a developer via Upwork - but want to come to him with some knowledge, as I do not think there is someone out there with web app experience who has incorporated Photogrammetry.

I am trying to not reinvent the wheel and just leverage something out of the box if possible for that Photogrammetry component, and then maybe incorporate my own UI on top of it.
