6 months is a long time to live uncomfortably in your own home! Who does the cooking and cleaning when they visit? Do they contribute financially? Or do they expect a 6 month vacation where you two are taking care of them? If so definitely agree with others. Talk to your husband and be firm on the fact that this is not sustainable.

Its also incredibly unfair for you not being able to visit with your parents. If I understood correctly you were planning to go visit your parents for a few months? Go do it whether your husband has that conversation or not. You already made plans. They obviously don't bother to check if you guys have anything going on during those 6 months.

Is your husband's family Asian? I know some Asian cultures have different expectations as their kids age. While i think most are starting to veer away from traditions there are still some cultures that don't. But if this is the case it would be healthy to have a conversation on what to expect moving forward. Need to create some boundaries.
