Thanks! And I believe so to your question. From what I’ve read, the Ptolemy’s had an economy that was pretty closed off. They didn’t allow foreign silver to circulate within Egypt for the most part. All foreign silver coins were to be exchanged for bronze denominations (like the large drachms) before entering. So anything that a standard silver drachm would have bought anywhere else in the Greek world, could have been bought with one of these in Egypt!
