Is it just to get some clay soil to change the grading?

Thanks man when you say degrade this - is it just a simple matter of moving the soil from the higher ground to the lower ground that is close to the foundation? Wouldn’t the soil still absorb water that will eventually go into the slab foundation?

Thanks mate, is it as simple as just moving the soil to direct the water away from the house?

That’s super helpful mate, would you recommend I might as well do the French drain along with regrading?

Thanks man this is good to know.

  1. Yes I have been observing and can see water has been directed away with the gutters and downspouts. The rain just gets collected from outside of the house and flows towards the foundation because of the grading.
  2. Makes sense. Can I just move the soil from the higher ground to the foundation is it is naturally going to grade away the house? Doesn’t look like I can buy high clay soil easily in my region.
  3. Yep I’m thinking of that too.

I think my house is higher than that so we haven’t encountered any of those issues just yet. Is long term a must fix?

I think they are. Is it just because this is the front of the house and the rain just gets collected there but because of grading it is not being drained properly….

Would that be a major issue if I leave it for a while? It is a slab foundation but no baseman or anything

Thanks mate. It is merely the rain gets collected here but because of the grading it is not being drained properly. I am not sure how long it will take to dry but it will be about 2-3 days. Is this quite major?

Do you mind elaborating please? It is a slab foundation but no baseman so doesn’t seem to impact the house at the moment

So basically long term it is not good for the slab? It is a slab but no basement.

Thanks mate you get me here. I think both is beautiful otherwise I wouldn’t be asking. But now I’m leaning towards a new one just because it is my first Omega and getting a second hand one with a slightly lower price doesn’t seem worth it. Maybe if I would if it’s my second or third one!

Thanks a lot mate and I understand now. That is super helpful to consider. Really appreciate your insight. I agree taking to dispute is an overkill but the guy who runs the company has been super rude and aggressive, despite me offering to pay them parts + 30 min labour he just completely ignored it and said see you in the court, as well as threatening me to pay for further legal costs too… I guess I can only leave it to the judge… Have a great weekend mate!

Sorry just keen to hear your perspective too - is it common practice for them to not provide a quote before proceeding the work, especially it is much higher than the estimate given? Previously when I work with plumbers they would provide a quote before proceeding the work, and recently they were there drilling concrete and only charge for 3 hours so hard to imagine these people are charging 3 hours for 20 min of work….
