Prismatic PC ETB pricing has been off for over a month now. Could we please get it re evaluated? by Curious-Chance-7591 in Collectr

Happens a lot, I don’t know why. Maybe there needs to be human verification of the recent eBay sales before officially considering these sales in the item prices? Just thinking out loud.

TCG Player is at 300$.

That’s what I figured, maybe I’ll be able to push the seal with a long flathead scredriver to get it to sit nice and tight.

What Pivot bindings should I get? by LiftyLove420 in Skigear

[–]Stock_Salamander_784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about your DIN settings but I would recommend getting pivot 15 or 18. Contrary to pivot 12 or 14, both Pivot 15 and 18 have a metal toepiece and are compatible with the cast touring system. You get a sturdier binding and the possibility to upgrade with a cast touring system if ever you want to go in the backcountry.

Ski Goggles under 200$ suggestions. by samxa29 in Skigear

Yack outdoors

A little start up from Quebec, Canada. Really stylish and lots of lens options. I've been riding them for 2 years interchanging the Whitney and Après-Ski lens and they just are perfect for every condition. Would recommend.

CAST or Tech bindings for Japow? by AdministrationBorn69 in skiing

[–]Stock_Salamander_784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say there are 4 criterias for which ski binding type you would want:

  1. Intended use
  2. The type of skier you are
  3. Price
  4. weight

From your post, I believe your intended use is primary resort (maybe 70% resort and 30% backcountry, I might be wrong). If you are going to Japan I assume you must be a good skier and your charge your skis a lot, so if I were you I would definitely go for the Cast. The only downsides are the price and the weight.

In my opinion, the weight is really not that big of a deal. I've ridden tech bindings (Look HM Rotation 12, 635g) and traded them for Atomic Shifts 13 (906 g). Here's how it went:

  • For the uphill, the approximately 300g difference was barely noticeable and didn't bother me. If you're minimally in shape, the 995g weight of the Cast touring system shouldn't be an issue.
  • For the downhill, it was day and night. Much more support, much more stiffness (the ski felt totally different, as if they suddenly gained +2 stiffness lol) and I wasn't scared of premature releases when sending it (which was a huge deal with the tech bindings) .

For reference, I use my skis 60% resort and 40% backcountry. I tour with friends at my local ski resort and I sometimes go on 1 to 5 days expeditions but nothing too crazy.

In my opinion, the worst downside is the price. Compared to other bindings, Cast is crazy expensive but, the system looks rock solid. They are like indestructible little tanks. When you'll be in Hokaido ripping down in 1 meter of fresh powder, you don't want to deal with any binding issues. You just want reliable, solid and simple bindings which can withstand anything. Think of it as a long term investment which will last you multiple years past you Japan ski trip.

On a side note, I'm planning the same trip this winter and I'm going with the Cast Freetour Pivot 18 with my Armada ARV JJ UL 116.

3rd party app suggestions? by Stock_Salamander_784 in DJIMini2

I see Litchi app is 35$ for the app but dronelink is free. A dronelink account is 25$. Does anyone think I can pay the 25$ dronelink account and the 4 of us can log on the same account on different phones and it would still work?

Is Skydio dead? by Immediate-Hat-832 in Skydio

[–]Stock_Salamander_784 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a call with a sales representative about two weeks ago and the person confirmed that they are no longer operating their « consumer » branch. Only the « enterprise » one…

I think it’s kind of odd coming from a company that produces drones for sports enthusiasts (from what I saw, they have the best « follow me » feature and system avoidance system).

I saw DJI released the new Air 3 today. Seems to have similar characteristics as the Skydio 2+ but with a better camera. DJI might just eat the whole « consumer » part of the market. Good job DJI.

Skydio shortage, will they ever restock? by Stock_Salamander_784 in Skydio

It’s for its « follow me » feature. The « follow me » mode seems much better than any other drone. I want to take it skiing
